High beam halogens to complement HIDs?

Which, if any, high-beam bulbs that are currently available most closely approximate the color of SoS HIDs and provide equal or better illumination than OEM bulbs?

I have yet to see any conventional bulbs that look anything at all like HID lights. And the ones that try to match color are the worst, because they're usually tinted, which cuts down on illumination.

Since an exact match is impossible I'd be happy with any bulb that looks less yellow than the OEM high beams, without compromising illumination.

I'm surprised nobody has yet developed an HID high beam kit which incorporates the shutter into the bulb, plugs into the low beams to fire the bulb, and plugs into the high beams to actuate the shutter.

The silver star highbeam is a little yellow compared to its low beam.. I have both on my car

I don't understand the comment about shutters. Please explain. I have the SOS kit in my 91.

HID high beams work differently than halogens because of the warm up time HIDs require to reach full brightness. If high beam HIDs were set up up like low beams, flashing the brights would not work as well as one might expect.

One solution is to keep the high beam HID bulbs on whenever the low beams are on. To turn the high beams "off" and "on", a shutter or mirror is used to control the beam in response to driver input. This is how Mercedes or BMW (I forget which) does it.
