Hi Guys. New to the board. And to NSXs.

Here's a shot a buddy of mine took with a cell phone last week that gives you a better idea of what the car looks like at this point - amazing how just removing the right things changed it's appearance as significantly as it did. At least I think it did.

Of course I might not be all that objective either LOL.

Nice flag on the Rear Hatch engine cover:biggrin:

Bram

Good eye. Richard was from Trinidad. A Trinidadian, if you will.

Hey baby. Who's your Trinidaddy?

Something's apparently wrong with me LOL.

That sticker's gone now too

how does that exhaust sound on that car? its a very unusual setup. That would probably be the first thing I would get rid off if I had that car. Those appear to be some no name carbon fiber canister cherry bombs that you can get at any auto parts store, and there seems to be no other real performance modifications done to this car. But other than that the car isn't too bad, definitely passable if your into that kind of thing.

Sounds incredible. Revolution Stainless Steel / Carbon Fiber units. Sounds like a cross between a Formula 1 Ferrari and a pissed off, steroid enhanced bumblebee on acid. But I dig it. You should see if your auto parts store has 'em

When I sell it to you, you can get rid of them pronto. Maybe make beer mugs out of 'em. Or a pretend jet pack like on Lost in Space. Until then they'll be stickin' around. At least for now. I think the visual impact they have works well with the rest of the car.

Performance mods? You drive yours? Truth be told, I only bought this thing cause it looks so cool in my garage (I installed that bitchin' race deck flooring and needed something else to put on it) and besides, it matched my Lamborghini Pearl Metallic Yellow Armani suit.

Well, that, and chicks dig it. Really hot chicks. With abs. And perfect legs. And the kind of @$$ you normallly only see accompanied by a brass pole and some $1 bills. But I digress.

"Real" performance mods. Let's see. I have a fully polished SOS alternator. And those cool red ground wires. That big 'ol Taitec CF wing has to count for something. Canards. I have canards. Carbon Fiber canards even. I bet you don't have canards. Neener neener neener. And Diamond Lug Nutz. There's 5 or 6 mph right there, I'm sure of it. Damned well better be for $150 a set. And a ClearShield clear bra, which actually makes me invisible, which I think is really cool. Then there's the performance clutch and lightened flywheel, the adjustable koni's, the Fujita intake, the Zex Nitrous system, the aforementioned exhaust system, drilled and slotted rotors, and a few other things that I've been sworn to secrecy on by the Oracle of Speed (no relation to the guy on this forum, lest there be some confusion). But more importantly, the fact that you were able to arrive at that conclusion by looking at some photos of the exterior is quite fascinating to me. Is that a skill you were born with, I mean, does that run in your family? Or is there a course of some sort one can take to be able see what kind of "real" performance mods are done to a car from afar? I'd be interested in learning how to do that. Can I take the course online in my spare time? No really. I'm serious.

I'm overwhelmingly excited and truly humbled that you've decided my car isn't "too bad". I completely agree - it's definitely passable. If, of course, you're into that kind of thing.

Which I am.

Since you liked it so much, I'm attaching one more shot of the exhaust from the aZines.com article/photoshoot. Enjoy

Brookland Green. Hmm. Does a guy get laid much in one of those? Just wonderin'...

Late here. Callin' it a day. Have a great night all.

Congrats. This makes mine look like a camry.

Thank you very much.

ouch, no need to get so defensive. When you have a car that stands out that much, you should expect all kinds of attention whether it'd be good or bad. I just put in my two cents, and I would hardly call a grounding kit, or a polished alternator a performance mod, however you have shut me up when you mentioned the nitrous kit. I don't know how I could've missed the jet going into the intake which appears to be a zex dry kit.

You can pick my car apart all you want for it being well balanced, and not overkilled ( yes pun intended  ) I like my NSX just find and I would rather drive my car around then yours, ( just my honest opinion ) I like my cars looking close to stock with just a small drop and nice fitting wheels because that will never go out of style like many other body kits. Only tasteful mods and nothing gaudy.

I'm not a brand snob, but I would group Revolution along with APC, plus its just very very unusual to see a nsx with its mufflers aimed like that. I would like to see how those bends are for the piping. But since I have no experience with that setup which is why I asked how does it sound, and I thought it was kind of ricey to have the mufflers aimed like that.

But overall I didn't think the was too bad for a show car. All I did was point out the mufflers which many other members in the past have pointed out to as well before you even purchased this car. I didn't even critique the fact that you have a vertical door kit put on your NSX ( which is being pretty lenient ). But your paint job and the wheels look top notch and yes I do see a lot of money and hardwork went into this project which is why even though its not my cup of tea I still have to give it some respect for what it is. Hey different strokes for different folks.

by the way this is my definition of a beautiful 91-01 nsx.

This is why I may come off as harsh but you have to understand that our taste is completely different. I build my car the way I want to, you can build it the way you want to.

Well good mornin'.

I can tell from your last email that you probably aren't entirely deserving of the somewhat sarcastic response you got from me. I can be a bit harsh myself at times.

Let's be friends

Before we give each other a hug, let's address what happened. I wasn't being defensive so much as simply returning the volley - there was really nothing constructive about your original email, which is what evoked the kind of response you got from me. If you go back and read what you wrote, instead of acknowledging anything positive about the car (remember, I'm still excited about having acquired it), you began by declaring what the first thing would be you'd take off the car (I didn't ask anymore than you'd asked me what I don't like about your car), then you proceeded to demean the car (which isn't entirely unlike calling my girlfriend ugly), by stating that my exhaust "appears to be some no name carbon fiber canister cherry bombs that you can get at any auto parts store", then somehow concluded there were no other "real" performance mods done to the car (another perceived insult considering the context in which the statement was made) and finished off by saying it wasn't "too bad" and "passable if you're into that kind of thing" which sounded sort of like "your girlfriend is very attractive in a fat, sweaty, smelly kind of way". The car can't speak so I have to speak for it. I guess you could say I was simply defending it's honor

Ok now. ****BIG HUG****

I don't feel the need to pick your car apart - that's not my style - it's your car, and it looks like a nice car. And from reading your signature, it seems you've done some cool stuff to it as well. Although I'm glad to hear you would rather drive it around than mine - I don't really like people driving my cars LOL. This is a sunny Sunday car for me so I figured I'd go extreme - I've had Vipers and Prowlers and a lot of hot rods - my "toys" always tend to lean towards the extreme - in fact I recently sold a chopped and channeled '32 Ford pickup with a baby hemi (I've attached a picture of it - I actually miss that little truck) that got more attention than anything I've owned in many years, which was part of the fun of building and owning it - I like car people, and having unusual rides tends to attract them. By the way, all the stuff about the polished alternator and misc. body parts and lug nuts being performance mods was simply me being facetious. You'll get to understanding my sense of humor better as time goes by. Haven't taken the opportunity to try the NOS yet - interested to see what kind of impact it has. It's always fun to watch peoples reaction when I show them the big 'ol purple bottle in the trunk though.

I really like that red NSX you posted pictures of a bunch - beautiful car, and very tastefully done. I'm already looking forward to doing an NSX myself (I don't normally buy "done" cars, but I made an exception in this case because (a) I liked it, (b) he spend over $35k on the car after having bought a clean example to start with, which I'm not sure I'd be willing to do, and (c) it is actually really well done, whether it's your "cup of tea" or not) - I have a vision in my head of what I would do with a black/black one - I have the car largely built in my mind's eye from bumper to bumper in significant detail. It would be measurably more radical than that red one, but significantly more subtle than the attention grabber that's parked out in my garage right now. In my head it looks like the hybrid offspring of an NSX and a stealth bomber. I saw a couple of black ones over the last couple of years with widebody kits that I particularly liked (I know, I know - widebody kits have that same "love 'em or hate 'em" effect that my car has) - I'll see if I can find the pictures.

I completely agree with your assessment that our tastes may be completely different - although probably not as divergent as you might think.

In closing, I only have one question.

What the hell is wrong with vertical doors?

I personally think that the car would look a lot better without the picnic table on the trunk and without the stickers. That being said, the car is nice overall and if you enjoy it that is what counts the most.

Congrats on joining the exclusive NSX ownership club.

So what does the plate mean?

NZO WHO = ENZO WHO?

At the risk of overexplaining, Enzo is the first name of the founder of Ferrari (Enzo Ferrari). Safer to assume you didn't know that.

Kind of hard to put too fine a point on it - let's just say it's meant to be quietly (and humorously) dismissive to italian sports cars and their drivers - a friendly dig suggesting our little Japanese supercars make their Italian ones somewhat irrelevant. Which, some might argue, they do

LOL. I've actually thought about going to a carbon fiber NSX-R style spoiler since I first got the car, but (rather interestingly) my wing has actually grown on me. It's kinda crazy lookin', and for the time being that's kinda fun.

Believe it or not, I got rid of alot of stickers when I first got the car - it had sponsors logos all over the place - in fact I'm currently contemplating taking the stickers off the bottom edge of the door. Call me crazy, but I actually like the ones that are stacked vertically down the front "edge" of the door - contributes to the supertuner thing the car's got goin' on. I've pretty much decided I'm not going to try to take this car in a violently different direction - I'd be more inclined to get a stock NSX and start from "scratch" - as I described in my last post, I'm planning on doing that with a black one at some point. I like the process of desigining and "building" cars. A lot actually.

For now I've decided I'll just continue to represent the Fast & Furious segment of the NSX enthusiasts world

Well thank you kind sir. Glad to be here

It's a torch I'll carry with pride. Although I can tell I'm probably gonna take a little abuse along the way LOL. Works for me - I've never been one to shy away from a little controversy

Thats the spirit!
Most will probably say they would loose the stickers, wing, pipes & wheels.
But if your happy, I'm happy!

Well now that we are all friends,,hows about loosing that faux diamond plate flooring stuff:wink: If you have solid funds for your cars I would take a look at this guy Kane and his umbrella design co.Some tasteful classy interior materials.

I wouldn't change the spoiler. It fits the stand out, flashy nature of this car. I was contemplating a widebody NSX (pics below) and it looked much better with the "big" wing rather than the NSX-R wing...IMHO. I, personally, would leave some stickers as you have. I think the exhaust canisters do look a little too ricer and remind me too much of the fart/coffee cans I see daily on Civics, but I think typical exhuast tips would look too plain on your car.

Actually considering that too - I think it would look better with solid black floor mats and those MOMO heel plates - I actually like those. They've looked kinda weird to me screwed to the diamond plate floor mats from the beginning. Problem I'm having is finding quality black floor mats with no logo on 'em. Anybody know where to get some, please let me know.

(BTW, they're not "faux" - oddly enough those are actual polished aluminum diamond plate mats. Oh wait. You meant faux flooring, not faux diamond plate. Never mind. Either way, shampooing them is a bitch LOL  )

Thanks for the heads up on Umbrella Design - I'll have me a look. I like finding new and creative ways to spend money. I've gotten pretty good at it too

I agree with you completely on the spoiler. That's precisely why it's still there

I've seen that car and talked to its owners - apparently those are the original widebody components from the SOS NSX - every bit of is carbon fiber, which is astounding (and really expensive). I actually considered buying it before I found the one I ended up with. That's a nice car just like it is, but me bein' me I would've painted it black and changed the wheels - I think it would really be somethin' special once that was done. It's got alot of great mods already done to it. If I recall they're down to around $44k for it, which doesn't seem horribly unreasonable considering how much has been done to the car.

We seem to see eye to eye on the styling issues - the stickers on the doors "work" on this car. I also agree that any of the "typical" performance exhausts I see on NSXs would be too understated for my car. If I run across one that looks "right", I'd probably go for it. It's not that I absolutely love those Revolutions (although they really do sound great) - I just haven't yet seen anything I've liked better for that car. And they're surprisingly high quality pieces - the design and execution is outstanding - the stainless and carbon fiber is actually quality stuff, and the CF works really well visually with the rest of the CF on the car. Another one of those things I might not have thought to do, but that contribute well to the overall "look" of the car.

Fart cans LOL. Thanks for the giggle

This is the car I'll probably build when I do a black one. Or something close to it. I really like this car. You guys might even know who owns it.

I pasted up a couple of different sets of wheels (I do alot of graphics work) to see which I might like better (this car had fully polished wheels on it - I though black wheels would look more aggressive). I like 'em both. Tough call.

Either way, I have no problems imagining that thing parked in my garage.

Whaddaya you think?
