Anyone have any clue what's going on? Everything works fine under 7000. Chip problem? Compression? Age? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Cold engine trying to protect itself is my guess!
Maybe fix that first? Can't blame the ECU for trying to protect the engine from whatever's causing the CEL.the check engine light is on.
I noticed that my vtech doesn't work either and the check engine light is on.
...and the check engine light is on.
The ECU thinks the engine is cold. You probably have a "06" code, temp sensor failure.
If the code is a "06" AND the wiring is OK then get these items:
(1) 37870-PJ7-003 Water Temp Sensor
(1) 91307-PK2-005 O-ring
That and a few gallons of coolant should do it.

Who gest an Automatic NSX? They should have never even made them,, IF you cant drive stick you shouldnt be in the car to begin with!! haa just my 2 cents,,
larry - can this also occur if the ecu thinks the engine is too hot? at the track on hot days i can get several good laps in, then the speedo drops out and my redline becomes 7000. sometimes i get a CEL, sometimes i don't. water temp gauge never strays far from center and everything is fine after a cool down period. stock 92 motor (except for exhaust) w/ fresh coolant (actually plain water plus wetter).
Your issue sounds like the Vehicle Speed Sensor, that is pointed out in Post #12. Commonly known as the VSS.

I also had this problem previously and all the suggestions I recieved on here were similar to those you are getting now......however nothing worked since I was pulling no codes at all, the thermostat, and all my sensors were replaced and brand new and still the problem did not get fixed. My last resort was to get a new ECU from a 1992 NSX (smae model as what I had) I sent it to SOS and they installed their supertune ECU. When I got it back I was redlining to 8300 rpm all day and night. I found out later that an automatic transmission NSX ECU was installed in my NSX which was a 5-speed manual NSX. Whoever changed the ECU is an idiot.
Either way hope this helps!
Just great! Another NSX finds itself owned by someone with an amazing perception of the perfectly obvious but the inability to comprehend it.
