GTLW vs JGTC

Unbearably loud? I have the same setup that you used to have (test pipes), along with dc headers, and find that it isn't loud enough...... When I had my straight pipe exhaust (no mufflers, test pipes) that was borderline unbearably loud, pretty sweet though. JGCT with no cats, for me at least, gives me the mix of comfort/aggressiveness that I wanted. I'm only 22 though so maybe I have a higher tolerance  To be fair I haven't heard the car from the outside. I may need to have a friend do a few drive bys to see how annoying this car really is. The car is fairly well insulated, so the loudness doesn't seem overbearing, even with the windows down.......

Thats the thing. i never really knew how loud it really was from inside the cabin until i had someone else drive it where i heard. From inside the cabin it sounds good, but its not the same if hearing it from the outside. On the highway i must say it use to sound amazing in WOT but driving around town it juat wasnt my cup of tea. I received two tickets on diffrenet occasions that forced me to slap some silencers in there to void the tickets. And to be honest i dont even notice a difference with the silencers on or off just a more mellower tone. But then again my preference may not be what someone else
is seeking for in sound.

BTW do you have an erradic sound once VTech kicks in or around 5000rpm running the test pipes? That was another reason i opted to quiet her up.

Here are the specifications of various exhausts. I highlighted both exhausts, since the topic is on GTLW and JGTC. I by no mean recommend one over another.

It is amazing how many new NSX exhaust have became available over the past 2 years.

I am trying to decide on these exhausts.

GTLW Exhaust

JGTC Parrallel Exhaust

It seems that the GTLW would be the better exhaust since its lighter but I wanted some opinions on people who have previously owned either one of these. Thanks in advance.

Forget both of them, get the GT-On

http://downforce.biz/cart/catalog/Taitec-Titanium-Exhaust-NA1-p-16278.html

Downforce got a new one in stock. It will be much lighter and more free flow than the Taitec exhaust. It is titanium and very similar to the v.2.

I have heard both and I have the GTLW on my 97 NSX. I personally prefer the GTLW for the great sound, low mass and great performance. I watch this board often and see many people get other exhaust systems and then sell them for the GTLW. Go for it.

Haha. I did that. I originally bought a RSR quad tip exhaust, but then sold it for a Taitec GTLW. I really miss the quad tips though.

If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't just limit myself to the Taitec exhausts. The gorgeous sound of the GT-One's are undeniable. Some of them aren't the best looking exhausts but their tucked up underneath the car anyway.

If possible, attend a local group meet and gather some personal experience with each.

I bought a JGTC for my last NSX after a good amount of research. My new one came with a GTLW. I just sold it and bought a JGTC. Although I'm a huge fan of weight reduction, I loved the sound (and looks) of the JGTC more than the 12 additional pounds I would have saved with the GTLW. (The JGTC is still over 13 lbs. lighter than stock.)

I completely agree with Ponyboy. I would have considered some of the GT-ONE models if I could hear them in person. It's a personal thing as you can see by the responses in this thread from those who have had both.

Go to a meet, listen, decide. Being in SoCal, you should have no problem evaluating a wide range of exhausts. :)

I think the GT-Rom exhausts are absolutely hot. However, I would much rather put the 4 grand + another few grand towards a conversion than an exhaust if I had to choose.

here's my GTLW!!

I have the JGTC Parallel and I love the sound from inside and outside. I've heard the GTLW a lot, and from the outside it has a nice mean growl. From the inside, there is a lot of drone and resonance which is a little annoying. Either one is great sounding, and it's a matter of personal preference as to which one sounds better to you. The overall best sounding exhaust that I've heard is to the GM V.2.

Nice. Anyone with a JGTC wanna step up to the plate?

A lot of drone? I disagree. There is a "drone-zone" with the GTLW but that's at around 2500 rpm. Below and above this mark there is ZERO drone. Just music

I pass through 2500 rpm so quickly in every gear, I don't even notice it.

i vote JGTC.

very happy with mine but now i want something LOUDER

I vote for GTLW....love the deep tone.....that is on my next to get list.

Hey! Will

I'll go with JGTC Parrallel Exhaust....

What's cool about the GTLW is that the can tucks up and behind the rear valance to expose the shiny alumn rear brace:

Here are some vids i just took on my little ride. My car (92) is equipped with a JGTC center exit, Random high flow cats, Cantrell headers and silencers. I noticed no difference in performance, when i ran the test pipes or without the silencers so i opted to keep them on.

Sorry for the granny shifting. Its not the best weather around here to just stomp on the throttle.
Anyway hope this helps. The parallel setup has the same exact sound.
First is opening her up till about 6000rpm (kind of cold to get on her full throttle) window closed
Second is cruising with the window closed.
Third is 3000-3500rpm at standstill (outside)
Fourth is outside initial startup and idle.

I went to a large nsx meet in dublin a few yrs back and loved amgnsx's jgtc. Heard a good number of NSX's reving their exhausts or driving by that day but his takes the cake as the best sounding out of the bunch. (DC, Comptech, Ark, GTLW's and a few others I could not distinguish) Wouldn't mind listening again if/when another meet comes around. Hopefully a good selection of exhausts will be available then.
