Puny side bolsters, lacks head rests (safety), and has little leg room.

Sounds like it's good for carrying small animals, children, amputees, and contortionist. And who gets to use the cup holder in the back if 2 passengers are thristy (or is that a pencil holder?)

Here's a 4 seater car that has more supporting side bolsters, seat belts in the correct position, adjustable headrest, head height, leg room like a 4 door saloon.

Can anyone guess what it might be?

They still they have more side bolstering than the ZR1's front seats. Funny you should attack the GTR on the seats topic, seeing as how the corvette has the worst seats in the entire industry. Based on your very disappointing posts, i dont really understand why you have an NSX. You dont seem to appreciate exclusivity, technology (GTR/NSX) and prefer instead, racing people in a straight line/ seeing how much HP and cylinders you have. Your 90's Honda has better interior (nappa leather vs whatever the vette has), higher quality panels (aluminum vs plastic), and more advanced suspension (all aluminum double wishbone independent vs leafsprings) than the more expensive 2010 ZR1.

GTO seats > NSX> GTR> Vettes: None-bonded leather

NSX > GTO, GTR, Vette in build quality and resell value
 
^Hmm guess you never had a chance to try a type-s or a type-r NSX seats :tongue:

Regarding seats the stock Usdm NSX seats, the usdm gtr seats are better than the NSX seats. If they offered the CF Spec-v/clubsport gt-r seats they would be even better.

It's a bolt on and off factory location. 100% reversible.

Not a valid comparison since the only thing that looks similar are tail lights, plus that Cobalt is modded to the gills with a wide body kit, and the front looks nothing a like. Almost any coupe with 4 circular tail lights will look similar except the GTR has been using the "afterburner" style tailights for decades.

Like I mentioned before if anyone is interested in anything related to the GT-R head over to NAGTROC and read up, there is a lot of information available (even information related to the heavy creases behind the front fenders)

I don't need to read any design data or study any wind tunnel videos to say that the physical appearance of the car does not appeal to me. Like I mentioned earlier I'm sure that the Nissan engineers considered function to take precedence over form which is a sacrifice that they chose to make. That is fine by me.

I have a colleague who drives a Saab. I don't like how Saabs look so I will never buy one. Who knows, they could be the most fabulous cars on the planet but they just don't appeal to me. I still congratulated my colleague for buying their new car though.

At the end of the day either someone likes the car or they don't, there is not much more to it than that.

Form follows function.

"Looks" are subjective.

A stock GTR will beat probably every NSX in the country on a racetrack except for maybe 20 cars (maybe slightly more but i'm going to say 20).
 
you have to admit, looking at the picture from quack that the gtr looks like a dork among the nsx's

billy, i like a fast car as much as anyone, but i still have to look at it when it's in my garage, and to me the front end of that gtr is a deal breaker. I could not bear to look at it every time i go in the garage, i don't care how fast it is.
 
I wouldnt say that the GT-R is ugly.... But it's certainly not a pretty car. Nor does it have the svelte curvaceous elegance of the NSX.

I don't agree, if you put the R34 and the R35 side by side, you can clearly see the evolution of the two cars. I would say the Cobalt is the one that bit off the GTR's trademark look, not the other way around since the R34 has been around since 1999.

Lemme clarify.

It looks more like a skyline than any of the current Nissan line up.

the current GTR and Cobalt have some edges that are too chiseled.

And both have high asses.
 
I like the currnt GT-R in the sense that it is a unique car now than its predecessor which was based on a family car. In my place every boy racer modded their skyline and claim it is a GT-R. Now they won't be able to do that. Performance wise is also staggering that is unless the new NSX is ever to come out from Japan with a much bigger engine hopefully. LFA is an ugly car and does not justify the price for me. I'll take a GT-R anyday but still keep the NSX. For me a GT-R is like Yokozuna, big, not that good looking but strong and skillful. NSX is like a ninja, not strong but nicely shape and skillful enough to defeat opponents in a tight space. Reminds me of ninja warrior tv show. :biggrin:
 
so on a tangent here, a colleague bought a used hennessey gtr700. I looked online and i guess it has new turbos and intercoolers, plus a tune. No transmission work. Is there likely to be a transmission problem? Thats a lot of power, but then again, the NSX transmission seems to take 500 rwhp just fine for quite a while... and the ford GT transmission holds 850rwhp no problem.. and the supra holds 600 no problem..

MKIV Getrag tranny is known to take almost double the HP that u just posted.

It's a hand assembled German tranny.
