My Driving Force Pro arrived yesterday and I just got my copy of GT4 (Japanese)...played it at lunch in our main conference room with wheel mounted on a little table (took me nearly a half-an-hour trying to configure the wheel because I didn't realize the power strip I had plugged it into wasn't plugged in). Got to view it upon our 50" Sony plasma HDTV...480p at first, then in 1080i. WOW! 1080i is super crisp (almost too much so since there's no anti-aliasing)!

After one lap of driving the Takata Dome NSX around the Nurburgring Nordschleife course, I was sweating bullets...the wheel at full force makes you work really hard! I also took a crack at Infineon in an NSX (my NSXPO experience gave me a good line to follow), Laguna Seca in an S2000 (man, I kept breaking the rear loose), the Cathedral Rocks rally course in a WRX STI (I hung with the AI car for most of my first lap...but damn is rally a lot of work with the wheel), and then let my coworkers try the wheel. I think several of them will soon be placing orders on the wheel...it's THAT good.

I love the wheel. I love the game. Must play more.

I won't be playing it much at home since I don't have a Japanese or modded American PS2. Plus, I definitely need to find a little table for mounting the wheel.

I'm also impressed how the pedals didn't move away from me...the little carpet catch thing works surprisingly well!

Can you tell me a little bit more about the handling characteristics of the Driving Force Pro? Like when you move the wheel a little bit does the car move or do you have to jerk it a bit to get a reaction? With my current wheel, it seems like I've got to move it 3/4-1 inch to get the car to turn in. Maybe I'm just picky, but I'm curious how exact the Logitech is before I go and drop $100 plus on it.

The Logitech wheel is extremely precise...I can make very fine adjustments by barely touching the wheel.

Well, my girlfriend just got me the driving force pro for as a Christmas present this year and I just hooked it up and did some driving with it and I've got to say, it changes the game entirely. I'm not a great video game player and didn't really like GT3 or GT4 when using the controller or my cheapy wheel, but with the driving force pro, it's a night and day difference. I actually enjoy playing it now that I'm getting real "feedback" from the wheel. If you have the game and not this wheel and are bored with it, just get the wheel. I'll have to set aside some more time once I get my stand built for it.

Somehow, I play better with the controller rather than the wheel

I may not play better with the wheel either, I really don't know because I pretty much suck at it, but being able to run all those different cars with the real physics is more enjoyable to play. It's a driving game, therefore, I just like to be as close to driving as possible. By the way, is there a cheat code that opens all the tracks and all the cars in arcade mode? I don't have the time or skill to run all these races.

for a while there, i was so confused thinking... why are they talking about gt4 release when its been out for hella long? revival of an old thread, i guess. i use my ps2 controller though, do you guys greatly prefer the wheel?

All I'm saying is I think the Logitech wheel makes it more realistic.

i just got the Driving force Pro for x-mas. $87 shipped from amazon/tigerdirect.

GT4 is a entire new game with the wheel. So much more precise than joystick. Must have for GT4.
