Ok guys this is the moment we have all been waiting for. The Molded Carpets are ready for production. This after Alex went and had the final test fit. But that is not the big news. The BIG news is we have duplicated the NSX-R carpet and it is available TODAY!!

Here is how it is going to work.

The 1500 series carpet GP is going to be offered for 30 days and 30 days only. The price is $399 delivered for the 1500 series carpet to a cont US address. This price has been obtained from me making an upfront GP of 30 kits from the manufacture. This means when I have reached 15 orders that set of orders will be made and shipped. Then when the other 15 have been ordered those will be made and shipped. Then after the 30 days the price will go to $599 delivered.

The GP on NSX-R carpet is $599 and is available for the same 30 days. After the GP is over the price will be $699 delivered in the cont USA.

All orders will be caveman style for the first 30 days while I handle the orders. All you need to do is call me at 858.883.2655 and order. If you get my v-mail. Leave a number that I can call you back on. Chances are I am on the phone with another NSX owner. After the 30 days I will turn over the sales to both Mark at Dali Racing where you can order via his website (being set up now) or Bill at Leatherseats.com.

Floor mats are almost ready, and there will be the option of a truck mat too. I have to figure out all of the color combos and such on these. Should be ready for sales on Monday at the latest. Just FYI, an exact copy of the NSX-R mats is nearly impossible with the tools we have available to us. But the pictures of the mats below are very good alterative and they fit US left hand drive vehicles.

Questions?? Comments??

Colors and some of NSX-R Install photos below. Plus if you click on this link you can view all the pictures from the installation. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v206/ARFNSX/NSX Carpet Install/?start=all#imgAnch15

Please forgive me if I missed it here or in the other thread, but is there going to be a molded trunk carpet too?

I seem to remember that my 1:18 type-r's have grey trunks. But my trunk carpet is worse than the main cabin, so I'd be looking to replace it all, possibly red up front and grey in the back?

-Josh

Are the photos reg or NSX-r carpet? Does gp include floor mats? why does NSX=r black look so much darker than reg.? thks Brent:smile:

Hi i was wondering if this carpet would fit in a RHD car. If so very interested.

I do apologize but the mold was done on a LHD car, so I do not believe it will work on a RHD vehicle. The molds would be backwards.

Josh:

All we have at the moment is the trunk mat. However depending on the sale of the carpet we can look at doing a molded trunk carpet in the near future.

The installation photos in red are the NSX-R type carpet.

The GP does not include Mats, however after I receive photos of the new mats with the logos there will be a GP on mats for 30 days too. Should be up and ready Monday. In addition to the mats the truck mat will be available Monday as well.

The NSX-R type black carpet looks different than the 1500 series for a couple of reasons. First is the NSX-R type picture was taken by a real professional photographer with good equipment. Second reason is the weave and type of material used makes them look different.

Is carpet DIY install?

Basically just taking out the seat and such or is it a little more involved than that? Are you disassembling quite a bit of stuff?

Anybody have a step by step out there?

Thanks.

I'm very interested in the answers to these questions. :)

Also, do the mats come "preslit" for where bolts/fasteners need to pass through the carpet or does that need to be done at the time of installation?

A link to a DIY would be most helpful to see what all is involved.

It is relatively basic to do. If you look at the link above before where the pictures start, Alex has posted some of the installation in his NSX. That being said Mark Johnson (Dali Racing) & I have scheduled an install here in San Diego next Saturday. We will be installing a 1054 Carmel colored 1500 series carpet in a local NSX. We will photo the install and post it with some basic instructions. Compared to other vehicles I have done this one is fairly simple to install.

The floor mats will not have any fasteners. I use a very deep rubber nub backing on our mats. They are longer then most on the market. The mats should not move around with this backing on the mats.

I think I answered the next question above.

The mats will be offered as a separate GP, beginning next week. You will have a choice of having a logo or not. The logo will consist of the letters NSX. In addition for those who want the logos on the mats will have the choice of the colored embroidery and that same color will be used on the surging or border of the Mats. Plus the carpet used for the mats WILL BE THE SAME COLOR & MATERIAL used on the molded carpet. Thus giving you a perfect color/texture match made from the highest quality material.

Bugger... I'm out then as well...

Installing the carpets in the NSX is relatively easy. I had taken mine out and reinstalled them a couple months ago. The painful part is putting the carpets back where you need to wiggle the carpets around to make them fit.

First off I would like to thank Tom and all of the people who helped with this project. Tom is a first class kind of guy with a lot of care and knowledge for cars.

The installation takes about 2 good hours from start to finish. You will need a strong utility knife to trim some of the carpet but nothing too major at all. Because this is a better grade of carpet with better insulation, this carpet forms to our cars much better which means we do not have to carry over the tabs from your factory carpeting.

*One important note is on the sides of the dash, there are foot vents...the AC controls must be on "heat" to get those vents to turn vertically so you can get to that screw. I know this sounds funny now but when you get to that point, it will all make sense.

Again I am in love with this new carpeting and now I check everyones shoes as they get into my car.

Thank you again Tom and I hope everyone enjoys the carpeting as much as me!

What is the wait time on these sets in NSX-R red? I have kind of a situation as I will be driving the NSX back to Denver within a few days after I have landed in CA. I will be arriving LA in 5 days so...I am kind of in a pickle.

The carpets are being made 48 hours after order is placed now. More than 30 orders placed. Then 5-6 days for UPS shipped ground service from Georgia. I can take 3 day shipment orders at $50 more. So if you ordered it this weekend, I can bet the carpet will land in Cal. by Friday.

NSX-R`style floor-mats...

Cool! I'm looking fwd to seeing how gunmetal NSX-R style material mats look like in an ebony black interior. Maybe the NSX-R black material is the way to go?!? Hmmm...

On a tangent...

I will have a few concept badges/emblems made for use on floor-mats, of which I will make a few of 1 or 2 styles for those interested.

JDM NSX OEM floor-mat emblem
:
nsxmatid8.jpg
JDM NSX-R OEM floor-mat emblem:
nsxrmat1dk1.jpg

... and a few other styles. These will not be exact replicas nor aluminum, but instead carbon-fiber & epoxy-resin. Those images are meant to give one a general idea. The finish will be silver, gunmetal, or gold for the raised/depressed script & the background will be CF or choice of color(s). Two-layers of thick satin clear-coat will be applied for protection w/o giving too much gloss/sheen.

Anticipate 1/4 cost of what OEM emblems go for! Not going for profit (though I should), just making the most out of the materials that I have as well as some personal creativity.

As far as fasteners/anchors for the NSX-R`style floor mats, an after-aftermarket DIY is very much feasible. Using simple gunmetal/silver/gold eyelets or grommets & install-kit, the fasteners can be fabricated to the floor-mats. There are numerous choices for how to attach/anchor the floor-mats to the floorboard-carpet, eg. snap-fasteners, plastic-bob w/ elastic/recoiling cable attached to floorboard-carpet that passes through the eyelet/grommet opening (my personal preference), latch-locks (similar to those fanny-pack belts, but much smaller), etc'... If there's an interest, when I do such to my NSX-R floor-mats, I will write-up a DIY & perhaps send materials to those interested (mini-kit) for whatever it cost to allocate bits & parcel; shouldn't be more than costs of an avg. lunch in the city. :D

You will have a choice of having a logo or not. The logo will consist of the letters NSX. In addition for those who want the logos on the mats will have the choice of the colored embroidery and that same color will be used on the surging or border of the Mats.

I assume 'NSX' scripts in the NSX-font. What is surging (is that trade-talk for border/piping)? If we choose not to go w/ the NSX-script, can we still get the border/piping in choice of color? Is it possible to get reflective-material for the border/piping (eg. running-shoes, safety/protective vests...), dark-silver/etc'? If not, can we send you the reflective-tape material to fabricate if acquired on our own?

Thanks...

We have attempted to duplicate the font. I have not seen the finished product yet. Waiting now.

Surging is the process in which the edge is stitched all the way around the floor mat using a thicker colored thread. This will be a choice when deciding color combinations.

You will not be able to use a reflective material since the surging is thread.

Just a small update!

More than 40 carpet kits sold!

Carpets are shipping within 72 hours after order now.

Floor mats are done but waiting for the Logo. The NSX we had was a close match to the factory one but not close enough, so I received a good replica of the factory NSX and it is being digitized now. i should get it any day.

Has anyone that ordered their carpets received their order yet? Installed it yet?? Pictures?? Comments??

Mark Johnson and I are installing our kit here in San Diego Saturday. We will post photos of the install Sunday.

Thanks Guys!
