Just read about your overheating woes.

May i suggest a simple insurance policy for this type of problem for anyone that tracks their cars.

I fit an oil pressure switch & light in the coolant tank (5 psi switch) this ensures that if you lose coolant pressure due to a blown hose the light will come on.

The trouble with water temp guages is that they'll happliy moniter the temperature of the steam in your engine til it's too late.
