Front Parking Lights Revisited

I got what you need, a removable 194 pigtail connector:

Look for them 1/3 of the way down the page:

Those can be used probably with no problems, but I dont like added connectors on connectors. I prefer just using tab terminals for a more direct connection. Excuse the dirty connector.

I have ordered about 10 LEDs and I'm testing a 350mA driver. Nice thing about these LEDs is whether driven at 350 or 700mA, they are still very bright.

i don't like 'stacking' stuff either but we have to come up with a way to prevent stuff from disconnecting accidentally- as easy as those blade connectors are there is a chance of that happening.

ok, so i guess back to looking for a regular pigtail connector, without the bulb base- anyone finds one, please post.

Can we get some pics of the actual OEM connector?

Heres a pic of the back of the bulb holder.
Worst case, you can probably buy these from the dealer, and solder wire leads direct to the holder.

Sorry, the only thing I could find was replacement OEM connectors. If only we could find or make a custom blade style connector that was waterproof. I would say you buy the OEM connectors, solder leads on to the inside, and place some good potting material in them to waterproof them.

This thread is about Front Parking Lights, not turn signal light modification.

haha are u serious? This works as both parking lights and turn signals... but thanks for the warm welcome.

Something different. I stuck a Cree LED in the turn signal along with a couple of ProLight amber LEDs. When the turn signal or hazzard light is activated the white and amber leds flash alternately.
This is no way a plug and play setup.

what are you getting at? are we supposed to welcome this 'not so new' idea which isn't even yours that you are force-feeding here and then you are offended? from what i read the only injection of 'attitude' came from you- there are at least 2 threads covering the 'evo' mod and this is not it.

edit: btw, i can't think of anything that looks more like an afterthought than those 'beads'.

Who is force feeding anything? WTF is your problem? You don't know me dude so back off. I was just being sarcastic... I never said it was my idea. I said it was Evo's and he makes great products. So what are you talking about? I was just offering my opinion dude take it or leave it. I really don't give a shit if you don't like it. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. You don't have to be rude. But, thanks for being yet another friendly prime member.

I found it funny that you guys are excluding turn signals as if its not as "cool" as parking lights when evo's kills 2 birds with one stone. But whatever, I won't be posting in this tread again. Thanks again for being a nice guy.

Just got this done thanks Jon it looks great!

I would definitely suggest this mod if you don't have it done.

Since we can't find any other connectors to replace the OEM connector, let's just solder wires onto the connector and pot it. As said before, it's such a unique connector, you won't find any other replacements for it in the aftermarket. It would be nice to see this thing in production.

the only reason why i am a bit aprehensive about just using blade connectors is possibility of disconnection and lack of protection from corrosion which may interrupt the electrical signal.
there is got to be a way, we will find it.

I meant using the stock bulb connector, no blade connectors. We use this and solder leads on the other side, where the bulb use to sit. Then fill the valley where the bulb use to sit with some good potting compound:

Assuming they are still available, they are not very expensive. List is about 8.00. They look fairly simple to solder leads to and pot with silicone. Part number for the socket is 34304-SH3-A01.
On just using terminals, they is very little problem. The harness is not in a position to where it can pull the terminals out, and the factory connection is not waterproof to begin with.

wow, interersting!

Oh man, that's very unique & functional, looks quite modern/high-tech'! Kinda/sorta reminds me of these:

But, of-course the setup in the image by FastraxTurbo is likely a lot more intense & focused in output (not to mention there won't be the rapid-blinking issues).

I've been keeping an eye on this thread, it'll be quite interesting to see what you electronic/light-tech' guru's finally come up w/! For a complete combo' light custom LED-retrofit as pictured previously, I'd consider anteing up what it took to get it done. It totally transforms the NSX front (especially w/ H.I.D.'s)!

well, the project is basically coneptually done, Fastraxx has the new boards now and it is up to me to get off my ass and get the heatsinks made (a friend of mine was doing it but got slammed with new jobs and pushed me aside for now. i have few other places but it will not be as cheap). the connector issue is resolved although i would still prefer something not requiring modification.

i think the coolest thing about this mod is that it will allow me to drive in conditions normally requiring usage of main lights (like dusk/dawn/overcast/rain etc., where the issue is the visibility of the vehicle not physical ability of the driver to see) without turning them on.
