For Those Using the Toyo RA-1 Track Tire

Here is my 0.02 cents:

I am running the following setup:
- Tein RA - just installed 12kg springs in front, 10kg springs in rear
- Tein settings - fronts stiff and the rears soft
- Dali track bar in front - middle hole
- No rear sway bar
- Front RA-1s 235/40-17 (38 psi)
- Rear RA-1s 275/35-18 (40 psi)
- Rims - CE28 17x8 +38, and 18x9.5 +40)

I have been very happy with the RA-1s. No complaints so far.

Allen your settup sounds like it would be pretty nice, but have you compared your times with rears at 38 hot vs the 40 you mentioned?

Allen,

that spring setup should make a huge difference. I don't understand why the Japanese didn't do this in the first place?

However, this doesn't negate the fact that their shocks are still subpar compare to competiton. But then again, who are their direct competitors?

What are your laptimes at the tracks you've been to?

Andrie:
You were invited to instruct but chose to be a "racer" instead. It was a choice you and only you made.

John,

I certainly don't mean it that way. Some people has better ability on adapting to their equipments. This doesn't mean he is a bad driver, but he certainly not a good test driver. Test driver should know or can detect all the small changes.

I certainly hope I can make Sebring. But the likely hood is very slim. Firstly, I no longer an NSXCA member. And for some reason, they didn't invite me to instruct anymore which I don't understand why since the club regularly use non member to instruct. Secondly, if you see my schedule on my website . I have a race on Sat and Sun before NSXPO. And a week after is Laguna Seca Speed World Challenge.

I like your smack talk though. If you come to this side of the country, I'll let you drive my race car and see if you can get within 2 sec of my time on the same day ;)

DocJohn
- I am not currently running a lap timer, so I can't tell you if running 38 psi yields faster laps than 40 psi.

Andrie:
- I do plan to upgrade to the Comptech Pro suspension someday. For now, I am trying to get the most out of the Tein RAs.
- You know the Sacramento gang doesn't use lap timers  I have one, but I haven't yet installed it.
- I mostly drive at Thunderhill.

Why do you think I held off for over 2 years ......... as I said, to keep up with the Jones' is becoming embarrassing. Talent by itself is no longer enough, I now need to cheat sicne I can't compete with boy racer funds

Hrant,
What do you mean? you pull in way over a 100K a year, your just TIGHT and don't want to SAK UP

Steve

Allen,

I'm curious what kind of lap time can be achieved using your setup. Let me know once you get timer up. You know you can be the first :)

I heard Kip's car is getting closer to a race car, and inevitably gonna have a timer if not already.

Andrie:
I erred in my previous post. I reviewed the list of names given to me and you were not listed. So you are correct, you weren't invited to instruct at NSPO 2005. Good luck this year with World Challenge Touring.

Andrie

- I will keep you posted on my laptimes, once I start using my lap timer.

- Hope to see you at some Trackmaster or NASA events!

Got to ride in Kip's car last week during the first session of the day at Sears, even with a green track he was fast :D, the car felt completely planted through the esses , hope he had fun dicing it out with Joe B's Viper Comp Coupe and the C6 Z06 that was running super wide R-compounds

Sorry Off topic.

Excuses… excuses:smile: isn’t that after the Nationals and a 2007 race?

Have you been to Ohio?

Good luck at Laguna!

Hey, I have an excuse generator so I will never run out of excuses. :)

It is after the national. No, I've never been to Mid Ohio. So it will be interesting. You should bring your car and compete just for the heck of it. Would be nice to see an NSX out there.

How far is Mid Ohio to Fl? If it is not too far and if they let me drive the civic, I might stop by.

Ken, I did have fun!!! The 06 Z06 was slow, but joe in the competition coupe viper was a kick. we had several sessions together and neither one of us seemed to gain or lose. Those cars are really fast! It was really addictive having someone to push me. It could get really expensive. Ask Andrie. Glad you made it out, Kip
