Hey guys,

I've finally managed to take some snaps of my '95 Black/Black NSX-T and upload them. I've had the car for three months and its been nothing but pure pleasure. These shots were taken in Chicago, IL. The rims that you see are SSR-Integrals (17" Front / 18" Rears).

Since we can only load 8 snaps at a time, I'll post additional pics in the next post.

Hope you enjoy them.

Regards.

Sharp eye Tiger740, sharp eye. It is indeed the Midway Plaisance that runs through the University of Chicago. I am currently obtaining my MBA from the Graduate School of Business, and will be graduating in June 2003.

I don't know about the Nobel Prize, but I am looking forward to them naming a building after me. All in good time.

Of course time for a little plug: recent Business Week Rankings (only the most influential business school ranking) rate the University of Chicago GSB as the #2 business school in the country. Yeah baby!! (Of course, too bad that doesn't directly translate into the majority of us getting jobs -- sniff, sniff).

Regards.

PS -- Thanks to everybody for their comments. Very kind of you.

I personally think photos can be taken that better capture the angles of the car, but it was just too damn cold out when I took the pictures.

Will have to re-attempt shortly (before the snow starts falling -- again!!).

Regards.

Good to hear from you. What's going on with you these days? Howz RacingFlix.com??

Hey. Really busy with work these days. RacingFlix is doing alright. Started out as a fun site, but got popular quicker than I expected and is now costing me more than an NSX lease payment, LOL!

Btw, a few of us hardcore car guys are still meeting up every Thursday in Schaumburg, so if you're in the area and would like to meet up, email me at [email protected]

Good to hear that things are going well. I've been really busy too. End of quarter is near, and exams are looming. Will be heading off to Asia for a few weeks break right after.

A Schaumberg stopover seems difficult to coordinate in the near-term, but will hopefully connect with you guys early next year. Who shows up, and what are the cars that are generally represented??

Also, I'm know you've been toying with the idea, so when you are going to step up and get a "real car"??

(just kidding).

Regards,
Vik.

LOL! I'll have a "real" car fairly soon. I'd say by spring. With the current weather and limited garage space, it wouldn't be worth buying unless I got a great deal on one.

Schaumburg, our gathering is mostly BMWs, and couple of C5 Corvettes.

Hey, NSXaholic,

U Chicago has one of the most beautiful campus - I love their architecture especially social science buildings surrounding in Quadrangle.

Car Looks Great !!

Now it's time for lowering springs. Here is a picture of mine with 17" & 18" wheels (the same size as yours) and lowered approximately 1 1/4" with Eibach Pro Kit springs:

Thanks so much Tiger740. I completely agree with you, and this was part of what influenced me to ultimately decide to attend. The current b-school buildings are also clustered around the Social Sciences Quadrangle, so I know exactly what you are talking about.

Unfortunately, recent building additions have sharply contrasted with the Gothic theme that has been a hallmark of U. Chicago and, IMHO, is ruining the campus. The architecture of newly constructed buildings cannot even be described as "modern" -- more like "ultra modernist," which is that very nouvoux style of art. It really clashes with the rest of the architectural themes running through campus and spoils the vista.

The business school is also developing a new building. It will be ready in 2004. You can see the design and read about it here. In doing so you will note its design also sharply contrasts with the Gothic theme. It's a shame, IMHO.

When was the last time you were in Hyde Park/Chicago? When are you planning your next visit?

Regards.

Michigan NSX,

Let me not kid you. I've been a big fan of your car since you posted these pictures originally. In fact, I was strongly leaning towards getting the same types of rims that you have, but ultimately settled on the SSR-Integrals. Your car looks beautiful, so rest assured, you have my vote (more recent snaps would also be welcome -- perhaps when the weather improves?!?).

I have given a lot of thought to lowering the car, but have resisted so far because I have only recently bought it (3 months). The car is currently running delightfully (actually, technically it is not currently running at all because of the snow we are getting in Chicago), and I'm enjoying my 17/18" wheels and DC Sports H/C/E's. I'm thinking that maybe next summer I will seriously consider the springs.

Nonetheless, like 92NSX, I would like to hear how happy you are with the springs. Give us your thoughts on ride, cornering, overall handling. Also did you consider other options? How much did it cost to install? Do you feel 1 and 1/4" is the optimal height to lower, or in retrospect would you lower it less. That sort of perspective would be very helpful, and will assist me in my decision process.

Regards.

EDIT: Was surfing around a few minutes after I posted this, and found the following thread:

It is entitled "To Eibach or not to Eibach"

HPV100 (a member on this forum) summed up pretty well what I feel in the post you just quoted:

"Chuck,
I also have 17/18 and eibach/oem shocks, I noticed that the ride is not that harsh, I agree with everyone that the look is more what you get out of the setup. If you want to go strictly performance it may not be the way to go, but from what you described 99% street and 1% track, I think you won't be disappointed."

I bought my Eibachs for a good price from Mark Johnson @ DaliRacing and had a local NSX Tech install them. Total outlay was about $700.00. I thought the car felt more "connected" to the road after the lowering, but I don't do much performance driving. I think the look alone is worth some performace dropoff - but mine actually seems to handle better!:)

Lud has been kind enough to post 14 pictures of my car (including a (rather bad) shot that is just after I got it) in the owners gallery of this site under Dan Diehm-Michigan.

Also did you consider other options?

No - I had previously lowered my MR2 Turbo using Eibachs and was very happy with the look and performance, so I just did the same to the NSX.

I think the 1 1/4" was ideal visually. The car doesn't look "slammed" and doesn't look "lifted", it just looks right to me (like it should have from the factory IMO). By the way, it averaged 1 1/4". Some corners were more some were less but the gap is uniform from wheel to wheel. The car rides great and I dont feel the ride is harsh at all. Hope this helps!
