Ferrari

The myth of the brandname 'Ferrari' went for me all away when i inspected them closer, under the skin. Same for Lotus, did some work on an elise, and that was even worse then the Ferrari. Then looking at how the NSX is build, i always wonder how people can say the NSX was overpriced.

This rant has nothing to do with the op question, but was inline of the 'move up' remark.

I dream of a Diablo or a 911 Turbo (the 997) but the cheapest Diablo cost like 200.000 $ and the 997 Turbo will probarly cost 300.000 $ here so I'm continuing to dream on :D

Ferrari isn't my style either. But sure, if I can afford a Lambo/911 Turbo/Aston Martin some day, I will buy something like that :)

But... I'm extremely happy with my NSX... And I believe I will enjoy it many, many years before I even think of "moving on" :) And the chances are there for me to keep the NSX until I can afford the upcoming HSC (I know that it won't be here before 2009+ but I'm in no hurry) :)

IMHO, the nsx is very high on the sports/ exotic car totem pole as far as styling and performance. Its really difficult to match the sexiness of a properly modded NSX (ie. Wheels, lowering springs, widebody kit, etc). Although It would be great to own a CS, Gallardo, or GT3, Entry level ferrari's, lamborghini's and porsches do not provide enough night and day difference in performance compared with the NSX, to justify spending the additional 100k. Also being a major fan of Honda F1 racing team and its heritage, i'd rather have a garage filled with several NSX's and S2000's instead. And in the future, to add a bit of diversity to the collection, I could add in a McLaren F1 and Aston Martin Vanquish:biggrin:

The real car I dream of is the Saleen S7. I've never seen one in person, and they look as fun and exotic as anything else.

I met Steve Saleen last year and he is a really nice guy. I must say the S7 is one of my favs too!

The only Ferrari I'd like more than an NSX would be a 360 or 430. I think the NSX is much nicer than a 355. No Esprit, no SL65, etc. Next step from a 360 or 430 would be a Mucielago (I'd consider a Diablo too) and after that, well, the sky's the limit!

goin' retro?!?

Funny you mention that, small world!?! I met Steve Saleen's daughter last year or so and she is a really hot- err' nice girl.

I concur, the Saleen S7 has a presence. When I read about a forthcoming American exotic supercar for half-a-mill', I slapped my forehead in anticipation of another Vector'esque mess. Whoa, I was wrong and quite happy being wrong! Whereas I find the Zonda too sassy, the SLR too phallic ( ), the Enzo too avante'garde, and the Koenigsegg too plain-Jane... the S7 seems just right as far as styling and performance goes. [The Carrera_GT is too sublime, the NSX of the baller's league... ]

Seeing how Ford went retro' w/ their supercar, the GT, and Lamborghini planning the Miura & Lotus w/ their Europa aspirations... I wonder if Ferrari is going to follow that trend, and if they do- what model of their past will they reinspire for the masses?!? [I do recall Ferrari supposedly has a neo-Dino in the concept stages, Modena's entry perhaps into te $100k segment]

Well I already own an Enzo, and a F40....just kidding. I'd rather own a Carrera GT, a Saleen S7 or a Koenigsegg (drool) before a Ferrari. I do like some of the older ones (328 and Testarossa) and don't like where their styling has been going.

I currently have a Boxster S that I will own outright in 6 months...... I was thinking of getting a 911/C6/NSX as a natural progression in the sports car class. I am thinking I may just skip this step and wait a couple of years and get a used 360 spider or 355 spider.

It is not a cheap hobby, loving sports cars so much.

By the way, I was not implying that the 911 is better than the C6 is better than the NSX. I consider these three cars to be a natural "next step up" from Boxster S ownership.

So does anyone know how to get their name on the list for a new Enzo? FXX? How do they make their selection of who gets it first? Do you have to be a Bill Gate with billions? Or do they pick just by your popularity or wallet size?

Believe regardless of wallet size, they sell the Enzo's to people who already own Ferraris and have been long time ferrari owners. They do this to keep ownership more elite. I could be wrong, so feel free to correct me if you own an Enzo without owning any other ferraris.

This isn't a list that you can get on, your deemed worthy through your history with Ferrari. Best thing to do would be to start buying as many cars as you can though your nearest F dealer. That will move you ahead very quickly. Same thing with those who are trying to get moved up on the F430 list.

Isn't that what I said?

I'd never consider selling my NSX, but I'd definitely consider buying a Ferrari...some day. No rush.
