hey guys

did you all see that practically brand new nsx that is listed here on prime...wow purchased as an investment never been plated only has 53 miles on the car ...with the cars age and never even been broken in yet...i wonder how the nsx will perform

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148984

msrp on the original window sticker back in 91 was $61,000 seller is now asking $80,000...

i wonder how many nsx's out there that have been kept as a collectors car and is in that kind of condition...

original owner apparently just spent 4000 doing the needed services...so i guess this nsx would be ready to run so they say....

im not sure anyone would pony up 80k for this car though seeing as how you can get a newer 02-05 nsx in that price range...but awesome none the less ...i wonder if the senna nsx is still for sale lol that would be quite the storied car to own

i wonder with the amount the owner spend back in 91 and what his asking price is now..is he really going to be making any profit on the car...cause 20 years ago i think 61k was good money compared to today

So... they're losing about $16.5k on this investment after you work inflation into it, not counting what it would have cost them to store/maintain/insure this thing for 20years... and that's losing $16.5k IF they get $80k USD for it, which I'd be willing to bet $16.5k they won't.

wow...i'd say at best given inflation they're getting their money back if they get the $80,000.00 they're asking for (which I doubt they will). Now if they decrease the asking price to say $50K...it might actually be worth it..even compared to an 02+. Pay the $50K to buy the car and then pay to do the 02+ front end conversion ($6-$7K). Kind of worth it I say since the car is virtually new (granted it doesn't sport the changes under the hood). Unfortunately the sellers would be loosing money at that point...maybe they should hang on to it a bit longer...like until these cars start showing up on B. Jackson Auctions. I believe by then they probably would be able to get their asking price if not more. However by that time depreciation would have dug it's sharp nails in even further.

Just for reference, $61,000 in 1991 works out to just over $96,500 in 2011 after you adjust for inflation. Soooo... yikes. They're taking a loss after adjusting for inflation, even at $80k.

I'm sure it's an absolutely mint car, but yikes... good luck to them.

I wonder if it's within snapring range.

Yikes indeed. I think as an "investment" this is probably the wrong time to sell. A collector car auction is gonna likely be their best option to recoup the most they can out of the car...or an uninformed sucker.

still waiting for those 6/49 numbers to come through for me ...id buy it in a heartbeat lol..but yeah...that nsx has had a sheltered life for 20 years ...would be great for anyone wanting a brand new nsx practically..but for 80k its a bit much....

$80K is way too much for it Will. $50K - $60K tops...you can get an 02+ with low miles/KM for that amount and at least they improved somewhat from the early to mid 90s models.

Hey sean

yeah your right its a bit much..but i guess if money was no objective id buy it lol...cant get any more newer then that...

but heres a real beauty its been listed on trader.ca for so long....if i were in the market right now this would be the car for me lol love the blue on blue interior...

but an even better thing would be to own that original 91 and that end of the model cycle 05 lol in the garage..best of both worlds

It's been on so long because it's had a bit of a hard life despite the few kms. It ws at the show & shine last weekend, parked next to Will's NSX and mine. It has had mods installed and then removed and the paint looks as if it has been redone in spots, plus the door has some largish touch-ups from door dings. I'd say not the cream puff they make it out to be.

hey

theres always a story for every car lol..but your right the longer the car is on autotrader.ca the more likely it will be a storied car..i guess the first clue i should of noticed is the red honda emblem on the front of the car..so it really isnt the creampuff like they say it is

but i love that color combo...too bad its not as pristine as they say it is

I recently just bought a 1993 with 7,300 miles... I bought it to drive on the weekends so i put over 400 miles on it the first weekend. Everyone that knows me thought i was crazy, but I always believed that the car was designed to be driven. I would drive Senna's car if i owned it (probably a little less than normal). I just think that letting it sit means you might make a little bit of money (probably not), and you don't get to enjoy the car...

seriously... 53 miles and just had to pay 4k in service... 4k and never got to enjoy the car. that defeats the purpose

I'm sure whatever story that 05 has can be overlooked for a bit of a discount (provided no major accidents). My 03 had work done to the driver side rear panel. Knew that when I bought the car and used it to get a discount. I also used the fact the original shift knob had been removed and the centre console scratches to further that discount. I'm getting the console redone when I'm getting the double din deck put in next week. The work done to the panel was impeccable so I didn't mind as much. You can probably talk that 05 down to the high 50s or low 60s price range if your aggressive and show the seller that your serious and know what your talking about.

I don't know guys. If that guy finds the right buyer - and it looks like he's seeking a collector to buy it, not a driver, he may get close to his asking price. I think back to buying mine, and I wasn't far off it's original sticker price when I bought it 10 years old with 30,000 km on it.

I paid a little more than market because I wanted a perfect NSX. That one would be like buying a new NSX. What did 05's go for at the end of the production run? (Don't try the 05's were soooo much better - because they only had minor improvements besides the look).

I think he'll get in the 70's for it.
