Nobody likes a winner for too long; now Ferrari is cticicized by sore loosers and rumored to be penalized for winning? Here's a great straight-in-the-eye post from FerrariChat.

Jaguar owned by Ford which is the 2nd largest auto company in the world and can't even finish on the podium. (only once this year)

Mercedes can't barely finish a race and they are the third largest auto company in the world.

BMW is Barely no better than Mercedes in building track foggers.

Honda results are nothing short of laughable.

Now Ferrari who produces 4,000 auto a year kicks these huge multi-billion dollar companies butts 3 years in a row and now they may face a penalty.

Ford, Mercedes,BMW and Honda should be embarassed
that they can't engineer a car that can finish a race let alone be competitive. (The four companies combined produce more cars in 60 minutes then Ferrari produces in two years)

Ferrari = FIAT, so they produce around 2 milions per year and not 4'000 as stated in FerraiChat. Ferrari alone wouldn't even dare to enter F1 with the required budget. Now I wonder with the HUGE ecenomical troubles FIAT has what will happen in the future...

Gheba, you live in Europe, you should know. The very reason Fiat was able to keep Ferrari out of the GM (20%) purchase in 2000 was that Ferrari was supporting itself with no help from Fiat since then. Ferr is now self sufficient and said to be the most profitable auto maker in the industry. just franchising name, logo and horse pays for a good chunk of the racing budget, let alone the F1 sponsors who wait in line.

Tino, I know Ferrari's situation quite well. Ferrari is owned 90% by FIAT and 10% by Enzo's son Piero. At the moment FIAT is the top sponsor of Ferrari (with AMD , Marlboro, Shell and Vodafone). Now it is easy for Ferrari to get top money from other sponsors outside FIAT but in the last years before 1999, FIAT was the one that kept Ferrari in F1 by giving HUGE money as sponsor... so technically Ferrari was using his own money (and not FIAT's) and sponsor's money (=FIAT). I do not know if I was able to explain myself...

No Gheba, you're still wrong.
Fiat Group (not Fiat Auto) owns 54% of Fer.
Mediobanca owns 36% of Fer.
Piero F owns remaining 10%.
Marlboro, Vodafone and others are sponsors of Fer, not Fiat.
If you divide Fer's book value by the number of its employees, it's phenomenal.
If you divide Fer's annual R&D expense by its number of employees , it's phenomenal.
If you want a new Ferrari, you wait.
If you drive a 360F, well I'll let you tell me....

Also, read here (and search as many sites as you want about "Ferrari Fiat Piero 90"):
http://www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/happenings/2002/july/luca.asp

Fiat group owns 90 percent of Ferrari, with the remaining 10 percent controlled by Piero Ferrari, the only surviving son of the company founder Enzo.
http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/020517/65/cz4xd.html

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo stated that this step is one of great importance to Ferrari and Fiat S.p.A, which holds 90% of Ferrari shares, has also announced that it will sell a portion of this stock in order to help create a sufficient free float.

This is also what I know, it is of course possible things changed in the last days with FIAT earthquake and with Mediobanca (that from what I remember is FIAT/Agnelli family anyway...).

FIAT sponsor of Ferrari?

I am really sure about this but I would be interested to see your opinion and disagreement, you know I am not an owner like you

"If you want a new Ferrari, you wait.

Before, I did not read your post entirely because the incorrections you posted led me to write an answer immediately... but what has this last part to do with the Ferrari Corp. and F1 program ownership/sponsorship?

I know the 360 is a great car, do a search on the forum and you will find a confirmation by my post. The F355 is not bad, the F348, F328, F308, 512TR and TR are all way too old for my taste and I am not 100% with their look (I used to love the TR, now it looks weird, heavy and very dated...).

PS: BTW I drove several 3xx Ferrari and never a 4xx or 5xx model...
