Exotics in the Aussie Outback

oh my......... argh... uh.....*clutches chest*... what is that pain ... in my.... chest..... wait, I know..... I'm in LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <IMG SRC="http://www.ethanwiner.com/Smileys/Love2.gif">

Can I openly confess with a secret with you guys. The NSX has my heart, but i am constantly tempted by that Gallardo.... my eyes keep wandering back to it. ;) That yellow Gallardo is a sexy mistress tempting us to cheat on our beloved NSX! Help! I know I'm not the only one here with this problem. :D :D :D

Thank you dingo for not holding back and posting them in high-res. You are a legend. Now... where's Les????

Apparently Les was on the Gold Coast earlier in the week, I only know because he had dinner with one of the other guys who came along.

I've just spent the past hour downloading and viewing each and every photo (well, except for the boxster pix. :p ). This has to be one of the most spectacular array of cruise photo's I've seen in a long time; perhaps ever seen. So many of those are going in my rotating wallpaper collection.

Thanks again Dingo for posting these. Seeing these hypercars & exotics in the barren yet beautiful Australian outback makes me feel proud to be an Aussie. We have it so good in this country.

Absolutely awesome!

If this gets organised again, I wouldn't mind joining you on another little jaunt along some unrestricted roads...

NEO looks like we have a new cruise to do next year. Looking good guys.

What speeds where you reaching up north.

Max speeds were as follows:

996 GT2: 330kmh
CS: 308kmh
Murcielago: 310kmh I think, though he did 328kmh a few days after we left (he lives out there)
Gallardo: 298kmh
360 Spider: in the 290's
NSX: around 270 I think
Monaro: 256kmh
Boxster: 220kmh

still can't believe this photo is of an AUSTRALIAN road sign.:(
(panel #4)
In Europe that sign means “End of Restriction”, whatever previous restriction there was, (road works, lower speed etc…). so if there was not another type of previous restriction, I assume the speed limit was the only existing restriction…
SO FLOOR IT!

And that is what we did.

The roads are better than I expected. The surfaces aren't autobahn smooth, but the corners are engineered for high speed driving with no scary decreasing radius bends. In some sections you can see for several kilometres ahead. There was a fair amount of traffic on the Stuart Highway down to the Uluru turnoff. We all had our lights on to let other roadusers know we were coming. We would have been a pretty awesome sight to those cruising with their caravan on the back as we blasted past in convoy. Some obviously thought so, as a few were hanging out their minivans with cameras as we came by.

That is what that sign means here as well...

Gawd, those kangaroos were probably treated to the most glorious sound!!! Did anybody (or any kangaroos) get a sound recording?

Of course, we got about 5-6hrs of footage I think.

As has been said a DVD is in 'production' so you'll get plenty of sound in that. ;)

Here are a few preview clips created by Ash (and 2 by me), should keep you happy for now. :)

http://media.putfile.com/cs_reels_in_g_lo (CS overtaking Gallardo)
http://rapidshare.de/files/4390008/Gekko_360.WMV.html (360 Spider accel.)
http://rapidshare.de/files/4390249/Gallardo_backview.WMV.html (looking out the back window of the Gallardo)
http://media.putfile.com/eitob_gallardodriveby (Gallardo drive-by at ~250kmh)
http://media.putfile.com/eitob_gt2_290 (onboard the GT2 at 290kmh)

I haven't checked if they all still work.....

I was playing the “gallardodriveby”, my cat was watching too. As the Gallardo approached, my cat got lower and lower, her ears went back, and then as the Gallardo got real close, she sprang of the desk and ran away really fast with a big fat tail!
And she hasn’t even seen a kangaroo yet.
My wife is just as intelligent, she commented “hey that’s Ayers Back”. (!)
Jeez, what a weekend this is going to be…

I watched the 3 media.putfiles files. Very nice! The rapidshare files I haven’t figured out yet…maybe later.
Thanks for the nice videos.

You need to scroll to the bottom of the page, click on 'FREE' and then wait maybe 45 seconds and a link will appear. ;)

Thanks for the tip. They all work. Beautiful countryside too.

I have a question regarding the "Gallardo drive-by at ~250kmh" clip... you see the Gallardo approaching from a distance, then BAAM she's not there!!! I think you guys cut some frames out of the video, or fitted it with a space/time-warping device ;) ....that baby was GONE!

Thank you for posting these videos. Awesome stuff. Wish I had been there.

Neo, you are quite right. Ash who shot and edited the clip cut some out to keep the file size down for posting. I think he cut out some camera shake too...

Check your PM, BTW.
