Ever had overweight/obese passengers in your Nsx ?

You're wondering how they fit in the NSX.....i'm wondering how they fit in economy class airline seats.
That actually happened to me once. The large passenger spilled over the armrest over into my seat/area. I was very unconfortable until she got up and moved to the back section after the plane took off. Haven't flown since.

. However, this thread may be valuable for folks who, in the future, may be asked for a ride from an obese person. This thread may reveal that a certain size is simply too large for the little NSX to handle. The information provided in this thread could potentially prevent the obese person from suffering an embarrassing situation.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

If you are my friend and...If you don't want to be called a thief then don't steal. If you don't want to be called fat then don't eat so much friggen food. But don't expect me to keep my mouth shut, out of politeness, when you are damaging yourself.

I've gotten fat, 5'8" 193 lbs, but I should warn you of another hazard to the NSX. Malodorous passengers! I let a kid sit in my car and the stinky smell didn't go away for a week.

Censorship? I don't think you know what that word means.

Actually, I do. I suggest you look it up. I would especially advise you to do that before you call somone out on a forum for not using a word properly.

In the context of this thread, I used it to mean "restrict".

Edit: after re-reading my post bodypainter, you are right. I did use the word wrong. I should have said. Jlindy, "I don't think you should hold the opinion that threads like this be censored..." or something like that. Sorry, I am typing fast and I would hope you folks get the meaning...

With that said, I can see where Jlindy is coming from. This thread is degrading in to photoshops of obese people in NSXs. That offends some people. I just think there is some good stuff in here to. I am keen enough to take Jlindys response without nitpicking his word usage and extreme example. I understand he is saying that it is rare for an obese person to ask for a ride in an NSX. He is not wrong. It will most likely be rare. With that said, I have been in the situation. It really is uncomforatable wondering if this person is going to be able to exit the car once they are in it.

PC? What's that taste like?!? Mmmm...

Just to lighten up the mood!?!

(BTW, no one was inappropriate, degrading, or offensive towards individuals of mass/ girth/ size!)

Denial... bad, bad! Light-hearted, candid humor... good, good! For the record, I'm 5'10ish & 180ish... far from slim!

I totally agree. I am also of the opinion that it is one thing to point out the flaws in folks that folks can change. We all have them, it is just normally harder to see than when someone is tipping the scales at north of 300 pounds when they are less than 5 feet tall.

I am glad you brought up this subject. I have had problems in the past with this issue.

I had had a similar issue having two larger people in my car. Both were about 6'2"tall and one was about 250lbs and the other was 230 lbs. The bigger guy could barely fit due to minimal headroom. I think some larger people store a disproportionate amount of their adipose tissue in their behinds. This props them up in the seat limiting headroom. I think it would be wise to size up a future passenger's "bottom to head" height to get an estimation of whether or not the NSX would be a suitable match for your passenger.

As I myself said way back on post #11

I feel guilty laughing at this thread but I'm laughing anyway.

Anyway, thinking about it now I don't know what I'd do in a certain situation that happened last year when my niece came to visit. My niece is a BIG girl - proabably 5'11" tall and gotta be 300 pounds. She just barely fit in our SLK, I wouldn't want her in my NSX. It could be awkward if she wanted to ride in it.

I believe and do hope that she knows her own limitations and would take one look down into the NSX cockpit and at the seat bolsters and politely decline to ask for a ride.

Well written and I agree with you. Very rare, but if the situation came up, it probably would be very uncomfortable. I just don't think this thread will make any of that discomfort go away the next time an obese person asks for a ride.

Letting yourself get to such a weight says a lot more than just a love of food, it is a form of self hatred. Some use drugs and alcohol, some use deprivation of food, and some use twinkes. Hell, I keep hearing of kids who seem to think that cutting yourself makes you feel better inside. The bottom line is that you have to fix what broken on the inside before you can work on the outside.

On a side note for the cases of extreme obesity, nothing drives me more nuts than the enabler because someone has to bring them the food. It is those people that really frustrate me just as much or more than the ones who do the eating. Enough of the rant, I'm out for now.

Modernceo, I am in no way trying to judge you, but if you really want to know what amoung of being overweight is too overweight for a ride in a NSX, you should really go out there, gives some rides, and find out yourself. Honestly, I don't think that you wouldn't want to be the butt of a joke/conversation if your love handle knocked the car out of forth and into neutral. You don't sound like you are intentionally trying to be disrespectful, but I think the topic is a little inappropriate.

Not trying to be a stiff here, but that is how I see it.

Well Jlindy,
As I posted earlier, I meant no harm to anyone, and in fact tried to word it so that it was obvious that I meant no harm to anyone.

In the next few days, I will have a friend of mine from out of state spend some time with me. Id love to take him for a ride in my Nsx, but am afraid of him being uncomfortable. Because of this fear for him being uncomfortable, I may even take another car thats not so snug/tight. So, this thread was not originally meant to laugh at others, it was brought about because Im not sure how the situation will turn out when my friend is in town.

i say we have to laugh at little things...i guess i just like offensive comedy....but its all in fun. and i assure you big people can get into car. a friend of mine got one at an auction and he his 6'5 350lbs.....when he pulls up i just start laughing...i mean somethings are just funny. I guess you can say im wrong but like i stated earlier...you just have to realize its all in fun

It depends how bad said person wants in the car. I'm a big dude. 6'-1", anywhere between 300 and 330#. Basic defensive lineman build, but with a beer belly. I've test driven an NSX and liked it enough that it's on the must have list. It wasn't comfortable, but that's not the point. If I wanted a comfortable car I'd get a big Lexus. I want a relatively quick, but still good handling car, andf the NSX does it. Those accustomed to luxo-barges may be shocked by the NSX's size, but I love small cars. The current daily is a CRX that isn't much bigger inside than an NSX. The minor discomfort is worth the tradeoff IMO.

For me, the only real discomfort is headroom (I have a tall torso) and kneeroom. The Seat Foam mod fixes the headroom and a momo wheel fixes the kneeroom. I love the aggressive bolstering - it didn't bother me a bit.

My secretary and I went to lunch in my car last week. She's 5'5 and about 350lbs. She just fell right into the car and I had to help her out. It wasn't quite as ackward as it sounds. The car sits your ass so low to the ground that when you swivel to put your feet on the ground, it's work even for a fit person......

Well, this is a serious post... I had a friend ride in my '94 - he's a big guy but not obese by any stretch - 6' 2" and maybe 200lbs - when he got out he leaned on the side skirt (stock) and BROKE IT IN HALF!!!! Cost me $500 or so to fix it. Since then I tell all riders to swing BOTH feet out first then stand up!

I just gave a coworker a ride. He's probably 250 lbs. I DID notice a subtle difference in the car's acceleration.
