I have a friend coming over sunday to watch football, he is 300+ lbs. never seen my car, will want a ride.
Forecast is for rain all weekend long.
***Philly area has had 7/10 of an inch in the last 30+ days.

Coincidence?

I hope this will be the closest I come to answering this thread.

Yeah, but the question is, have the cars he's ridden in been in more BODYSHOPS!

I had a 290 pound guy in my car and he seemed to fit alright. However, he did not fit so well in my '91 MR2 as he could not fasten the seatbelt.

Just along the line of overweight...

This car was loaded at Home Depot, and parked at an IHOP. The photographer ran into a store to buy a camera to shoot it. What you can’t see is the back seat, which holds 10 bags of concrete @ 80 lbs. each, estimated load weight 3000 lbs. The rear shocks broke and burst through the floor boards.

I would never do it! I gave my obese neighbor a ride years ago when I had a VW Scirocco (sp?) and she could barely fit in the car. She forced herself in and broke the A/C vents on the dash with her knees.

It reminds of the "old days" in sailboats.

They used to stress how many people the boat could sleep, turning every possible space into a convertable bed.

The quote was: "Sleeps 8, f*cks 12"

I got busted with 8 people (including me) in my 84 RX-7 in High School. Had to take them to our destination 1 by 1 why the cop sat and waited with the others.

The new NSX seems to have very hard suspension from what I see.

My ex was 6'5' , 300 lbs and rode in my '92 NSX quite often. However, we were unable to go on long trips (anything over 20 mins.) due to the pain he would get in his lower back. Currently, one of my best friends is 6'7" about 245 lbs. and sometimes he goes for a ride in my NSX. However, I have to remove the targa for him to sit somewhat "comfortably." Again, no long trips would be possible.

Great thread, thanks for the laughs everyone. I think we all have a fat person inside of us, just waiting to come out. I was born and raised in Hawaii, so I know how easy it is to get large (eating da local grinds). I think my cousin has one of me (5'9",145lb), wrapped around his midsection.

Is anyone else a little uncomfortable with this thread??? I'm glad to see some of the responses migrating from the intended topic to relay instances of tall, big, football player types in your NSX because maybe that is more comforable to explain, but I just don't see the point to asking someone to describe an OBESE person's troubles of fitting in a small exotic. As a disclaimer, I am 6'1" 170 pounds so I am not taking this as a direct jab on me personally even though that is not relevant, but I do find some offense with the lack of regard for an uncomfortable situation. If it were me that couldn't buckle a seat belt around me due to weight, I certainly wouldn't want someone joking about it on a public forum or anywhere else. What good does that knowledge accomplish?

Modernceo, I am in no way trying to judge you, but if you really want to know what amoung of being overweight is too overweight for a ride in a NSX, you should really go out there, gives some rides, and find out yourself. Honestly, I don't think that you wouldn't want to be the butt of a joke/conversation if your love handle knocked the car out of forth and into neutral. You don't sound like you are intentionally trying to be disrespectful, but I think the topic is a little inappropriate.

Not trying to be a stiff here, but that is how I see it.

I heard the 57% of the population is overweight. I am assuming that the measure that is used is the BMI Body Mass Index. Using that measure I am overweight at 6'3" 206 so I don't even need to have a passenger to have someone in my car that is overweight.

Thanks for the attempt at censorship. However, this thread may be valuable for folks who, in the future, may be asked for a ride from an obese person. This thread may reveal that a certain size is simply too large for the little NSX to handle. The information provided in this thread could potentially prevent the obese person from suffering an embarrassing situation.

....and perhaps get that person to go on a diet to avoid the same.
I have always felt nothing is taboo to talk about. Bringing a problem to the surface is what gets the problem solved. Not talking about a problem is allowing the problem to continue.

Ok then, I must be unaware of the apparently increasing number of cases of extremely obese individuals walking up to strangers on the street who own compact exotics asking them for a ride, or an obese friend that is so completely unaware of their own size, that they don't realize that they have a better chance of dating Paris Hilton than fitting in a NSX. (however with the number of people Paris has been dating the last couple of years, that figure isn't so unrealistic  )

No attempt to censor, no attempt to judge, just wanted all to understand what it might be like if you were to read it from the other side.
