Engine removal

Hey Dude, curious... how did you drop that motor out without a lift?

I used 2 aluminum jack and I removed the girdle first atleast the front and rear first leaving the driver and passenger mounts on. Then I hooked up a engine hoist and removed the two side mounts. Jack up both sides of the car with the jack and then lower the engine. Should be good to pull out the engine from beneath.

Can u ask for a refund and source it from somewhere else?. Suux man, i thought by now you have evrything done. Year is getting over fast, not much more time for cruise.
I dont really think I would get a refund. A shop near here gave me a quote to do the last part already. Cody said he is fighting to keep his lights on....

Its running really smooth. The ITB idles like stock and drives really nicely with the added power and throttle response is really nice.

still waiting man.... Leaving for school soon so I might just give up hope getting it finalized till winter if not spring next year... :frown:

That's good to hear! ITBs are so tempting considering the type of build I want to pursue.

Hang in there buddy. You've been working on it so long already. So you definitely know what patience rewards you with.

What throttle sensors are you using? Both TPS and MAP? It's hard to use MAP for ITBs, but maybe you found some other way? How is 1/3 throttle torque? Getting the mixture right for partial throttle with ITBs is difficult.

I think he tuned using not map but throttle base. 1/3 throttle is fine, since he tune partial at different percentage and then full throttle. Drives like a dream even with itbs.

Thanks man, Cody said it is shipped today but we shall see. I usually only believe it when I get the tracking number and its been picked up. Last time I heard it was going to be shipped on X day I had to wait another 4 months after.

Are you using the fuel regulator with the vacuum input port? That vacuum port helps to make the mixture richer the moment you step on the gas, without waiting for the ECU to tell the injectors. That vacuum port has nowhere to go now. Or is it routed to somewhere else? Without that vacuum port working, you may feel a slight lag when you blip the throttle.

Yeah, I am using a vacuum port for the fpr. It goes to the vacuum manifold I linked up earlier.

So what did the Endyn headwork set you back?

The Bisimoto cams? Did you install them straight up? (i.e., no adjustment with adjustable cam gears?)

Which header did you go with?

Endyn did a full port and polish, upgraded to super tech dual valve springs, Ti retainers, 1mm over intake valve, nitride coated intake/exhaust valves, LMA upgrade, milled the head.

The Bisimoto cams had to be adjusted with the cam gears. The work was done by Ti Dave here in portland. He did that, valve adjustment with the timing belt install.

Got the exhaust on friday morning. It didnt fit properly so I brought it to the muffler shop and had them cut and welded so it would fit perfectly. The only problem was it not going out the factory valence properly but besides that the exhaust note is awesome.

My gf has a camera but, but I dont know how it will sound on it since its so old... haha Ill try sometimes this week when I am not busy.

Tell your gf to get out of the kitchen for a sec and make a video for you instead of a sandwich.....

just kidding, but any updates?

Thanks! I finally made my last payment on the NSX today! Ill get a hold of a decent video camera next weekend for some videos. I have been working on the car here and there, mostly weight reduction.

Yup, been working on weight reduction. Removed all the sound deadening in the car and the foam piece in the back. Removed all the stereo stuff and ac. I am working on a diy abs delete with making your own hardlines and stuff. I will start on it this weekend and will post pictures of the progress.

ABS removal and hardline upgrade.

Great thread.Sat down and read it all.To bad about "Lovfab". Have heard lots of good things about them but your story makes me wary.Lots of great info for DIYS guys.Huge learning curve and now you seem to be the guru and not the apprentice.Wondered about na opposed to fi before.(Ie smaller hp gains for daily driver/longevity)Does 50 to 80 horsepower make that big of a difference?Just curious,if you don't mess with it it wont mess with you?I don't have a car yet but wife and i discussed going with a "mile d out" rebuild or newer low mile investment.Still at that stage i guess.Take care and look forward to future updates.

Nice work, but I like my ABS in the rain. LOL

nice job it looks factory.

nice

Looks good! Did you end up bending them by hand? Reminds me that I really need to redo mine.

What flare tool did you use? Have the fittings held up well?

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Pat, NA does feel amazing. After I removed alot of the dead weight it feels faster and I am starting to love it. However I am in need of more power and a turbo will be the solution.
