Engine removal

Congrats. Thats pretty awesome

Thanks!

congrats on the numbers

let us know when you get your exhaust finalized and get some videos up!

Ill get a video once the exhaust is on and the tune is finalized. Right now I am just enjoying the car.

If you get that car to the track, you have to get a video of it!!!

I can hear it already..
Congrats big time.

Thanks I will man!

Wow, congrats Tuan !! awsome build/number

Thanks!

With your ITBs, how did you handle the sensitive throttle at idle? SoS did it via the OEM idle air control valve. It lets in a computer-controlled amount of air into the cylinders via vacuum hoses when the throttle plate inside each ITB is completely closed. The vacuum hoses let air into the cylinders downstream from the throttle plate of each ITB. What was your solution for this?

I had a plate made for the IACV that has 2 ports one for sucking air in and one into the vacuum manifold. Same concept as SOS just nothing that fancy looking.

Could you show us detailed pictures of this plate? It's another solution to this well-known problem. I would appreciate seeing your unique design for this.

Ill get some pics up tomorrow. Its a straight up design, I used
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURB...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I drilled two more holes on the back side for 2 more ports. one for the fpr the other for the map sensor. The plate for the IACV is just an aluminum piece that allows the iacv to bolt on and there are 2 holes drilled on the plate that exposed the inlet and outlet for the iacv and allows for the figure 8 o ring. Its threaded to allow for barb fittings as well.

I gotta say... This is a pretty epic thread. From a post 1 of "what the hell is this cable?" to, 2 years later, a full backyard ITB build. Thats just madness.

Huge props Tuan!

No doubt!

Are there any books or videos that would be good to study up on before attempting an engine rebuild? I'm a pretty technical and detailed person, just never attempted to do anything like a full engine rebuild myself.

Thank you!

Dave

Why not use the right tools then lmao

nice work with all the cleaning up of parts though man

Ever get the exhaust from LoveFab yet? seems like a long time !

how's this beast running?

Its running really smooth. The ITB idles like stock and drives really nicely with the added power and throttle response is really nice.

still waiting man.... Leaving for school soon so I might just give up hope getting it finalized till winter if not spring next year... :frown:

What's the excuse? He seems to be busy building other projects.

Theres a list of things... I dont even know where to start. This time its his CC getting denied so the tight 90 bend didnt come in on Tuesday. He reordered and should have been there yesterday and shipped out yesterday. Yeah, hes been starting new projects and finishing them instead of mine. I guess he is tight on money and thats why hes taking on new projects. I dont think it should matter since I paid him so long ago and I am still a paying customer. Poor or not his business ethics is poor.

Sorry to hear that. Sucks when you lay the cash down and your at that persons mercy to get it done and out to you. Hope you get it soon it's one hell of a build you have.

Hey Dude, curious... how did you drop that motor out without a lift?

Can u ask for a refund and source it from somewhere else?. Suux man, i thought by now you have evrything done. Year is getting over fast, not much more time for cruise.
