a message to all the auto owners ..who have sports exhaust systems, did/do you have excessive drone down low between 1K and 2.5K rpm..whats been your experience..can you tell me which exhaust systems you have fitted..thanks

Drone as in rattling sound. Mine does but it sounds awesome like an impatient bulldog. I have HKS sport exhaust on my auto.

Drone is only apparent when the engine is under load, if the car is in Neutral and you take the engine up the rpm range ..beautiful, but in gear between 1 - 2.5Krpm, the drone from the exhaust is enough if you are talking in the cabin to break up your voice when talking, the whole cabin and rear glass vibrates and shudders, once past this range awesome, but way too much thru the lower rev range and that where it likes to sit once on the move around town if in Drive, using the box manually helps..but..

Does yours have cats on or off, as mine is cats off, which I believe is part of the problem..

I drove from vancouver canada to seattle behind an auto car with ARK exhaust and the drone noticed in my car was very annoying..when I asked the driver about it he said "yeah its really loud"... :frown:

hahaha I drove from Vancouver to Seattle in my 92 auto with a Black NSX behind me and I couldnt hear his exhaust because the drone on mine was to loud..

Yah my ARK exhaust has a nasty drone in the rpm's that are mentioned.. its really bad at 2k rpm. It fills the whole cabin.. It has started to make some of my interior rattle... and recently the engine cover in back! it took me forever to figure out what was making the sound.. I finally popped the back glass hatch and the noise went away..

Kevin

mine has cats on btw....

I'm currently running RSR exhaust on my '92 auto, and while it isn't super loud outside ,I don't get a lot of drone inside.Previously I fabricated a Flowmaster and I could not stand the interoir noise.....but loved the exterior bark and back burble.Either way, it's better than "OEM no sound" I'm in Melbourne and NEO might comment on the current setup.
