how much does the passenger-airbag unit weigh?

what is the difference in the curbweight of a 91,93 and 94?

/Stef

The curb weight of a '91 was 3010 pounds.

I don't think the changes for '93 (passenger air bag, R134a refrigerant, cupholder) and '94 (wheels/tires) made a huge difference in the curb weight - around 10 more pounds or so, if I recall correctly.

Unfortunately, the 1994 brochure is still missing from my collection (';(')

Listed weights I have (US-specs):

1991 NSX, 5-speed coupe : 3010 lbs
1995 NSX, 5-speed coupe : 3047 lbs
1995 NSX-T, 5-speed targa: 3142 lbs
1997 NSX, 6-speed coupe : 3069 lbs
1997 NSX-T, 6-speed targa: 3164 lbs

In '95, they thickened the metal used in some parts of the car (e.g. side rails) to compensate for the loss of rigidity due to the removable top introduced that year. AFAIK, all cars (coupes as well as NSX-T) had this same reinforcement, which would have resulted in higher weights, even for a '96 coupe vs a '94 coupe. (In the States there were no '95 coupes sold but there were no changes from '95 to '96.)

The metal in the side rails was thickened even more in '97, but there were many many other changes made that year that changed the weight of various parts of the car.

i believe that curbweight for a european -91 is 1370 kgs (3020 lbs)

and when i read an earlier post MvM -94 car weighed 1400 kgs (3086 lbs)

+30 kgs? (66 lbs)

Could it be the 17/18 combo BBS rims + tires that adds all that weight?

/Stef

Sjb,

(he, some people actually read my posts ;) )

The weight of my car at 1400 kg (3086 lbs) was with a full tank (ok, minus about 7 liters), with CD-player & bracket, car-manual and service-book. That is not the same as curb weight as listed in the manual.
According to my car-papers my NSX weighs 1340 kg (2954 lbs) but that's the official weight without any fluids. But according to the Dutch, German and Englisch brochures I have, it is listed ad 1370 kg (3020 lbs).

And you are right the BBS wheels and bigger tires add weight (and in the wrong places also).
Current weight of my NSX with a full tank and the usual toolbox (2 liter of oil, 1 can of car-wash, some wrenches & screwdrivers, small towel aka rag, tape, ratchet and nuts) and extra 12 CD's is 1363 kg (3005 lbs). So I've lost a little weight by now and when I've fitted the rest of the stuff I have it should be down to 1343 kg (2960 lbs).

i like every informative post..thats why i spend lots of time reading here on nsxprime :)
