Neat - thanks for sharing the video here
No problem! We have much more pics and video to share as we kick off the build! How about maybe kicking things off with a dyno pull video? Having an NSX with 230k+ on the clock, it would be cool to see just how many horses are left in the stable.

AutoWave in Huntington Beach, CA is Official Builder of Clarion Builds Project NSX

Hey everyone, just a little update - we tapped AutoWave in Huntington Beach CA to manage our build. As of yesterday, AutoWave is now the official build partner for the Clarion Builds Project NSX. http://autowaveinc.com

Before we have the guys at AutoWave tear into the Clarion Builds Project NSX to reawaken its drivetrain, we wanted to get a feel for just how much horsepower a 1991 NSX with 230,000+ miles had left in it. To do that, we arranged a pre-build dyno pull to get a sense of where things stood.

Considering that the car has driven the amount of miles equal to driving around the Earth 10 times, we knew its drivetrain would be tired - but how tired? A good running NSX with our drivetrain should put down about 235 -245 HP at the wheels: sadly, ours only made 207. Follow along as we pull this engine out and work some Clarion Builds magic to make our NSX worthy of the badge it wears. We have some very exciting plans for this car!

Stay tuned!

Looking forward to seeing this at a SoCal NSX monthly meet in the future! :biggrin:

The guys at AutoWave in Huntington Beach, California begin tearing down the Clarion Builds 1991 Acura NSX to prep the body for paint. While at it, they also dropped the tired 3.0 liter DOHC VTEC V6 out from underneath the car to make room for something a little wilder. For a car with 230K+ miles on the clock, tear down went pretty smooth! But, having worked on more than 700 NSXs, its safe to assume the guys at AutoWave know what they’re doing.

Off to Paint and Body @ Diamond Hills in Diamond Bar, CA

This is how we roll... for now.

Just a taste of how far we're going with the body restoration!

@Clarion,
Make the nsx community a double din head unit which is 1 inch recessed or has a decent reverse tilt. I will buy one immediately as I am quite sure you will find out just how bad glare is in our nsx. Even with 5% tint and windows up it still glares some. Other than that, lets see the build progress. :smile:

It would be really helpful if you could share the budget / cost for this restore. I understand you probably have promotional rates with Autowave and so forth, but you must have an budget on both sides to be working from. It would be great to know what it takes to tear down and restore like you are doing.

I knew you'd be involved in this! Will you be able to "borrow" the car and take it out to maybe the PV C&C?

BTW: Can anybody help give some comments on the fitment of those Michelin Cup 2 tires over the DF fenders? really interested in that setup!

Is she single?
