CART in Cleveland

You know, ever since they've reduced the number of yellow flags, the racing hasn't been as close as it used to be. It's more F1 like.

That's real racing, not some manipulated driving exhibiton like NASCAR. I think a real race fan doesn't lose interest just because the best driver/car combination is allowed to win.

Also, from a race standpoint, how can you call the race boring? A man tries to set a record for consecutive wins - and breaks while leading! Then his closest competitors in the championship start dropping off one by one. Finally the winner (Carpentier) wins his first road course race 2 weeks before going to his home race! And - best of all - only 1 full course caution (on lap 2!).

I want to see a race, not a contest where, when someone starts to do too well, he is penalized (NASCAR, Speed World Challenge). I think CART is doing a great many things right since Chris Pook took over.

I do agree however that the field is WAY to small. There should be 25-30 cars starting, not 18!

By the way, did anyone notice that the fast Toyota Atlantics qualafied about the same as the slow Champ cars?
