You can't tell from the pic, but there is actually a plug like that on the passenger side also.

Really, I don't like that. I much prefer the original design lower in the cover. I wonder why they moved it?

makes sense. I have no idea what they are because I never pulled it off. All I know is that there is one of them on each side of my front bumper.

I absolutely HATE it. I wonder why they couldn't use the old style of mounting the cover to the bumper. Makes for a much smoother look. IMO

I was wondering why this was necessary, as well. Then I looked at the 91-01 bumper and realized that these bolts appear to be behind the turn signal assemblies. If so, they bolts can be accessed thru the turn signal openings. Since 02+ does not have these openings and since the bolts are still back there, an opening with a plug for each bolt was needed.

I came across only one halfway-decent photo... red/black 2002's do seem to be rare since most of Honda's press photos are of the yellow or blue. HTH.
