bought 3000GT for daily driver - worst mistake ever

I sold my daily driver to get another daily driver. (switching cars is fun) Its NA so I figure most reliable in the bunch but handling and power is just not there. I rather drive a corolla.

The NA 3000GT is an underpowered fat pig. What did you expect?

You are right on the spot. My bro's 3000GT blown his transmission a year ago. Brakes are useless to as he could stop his car before crashing into the boot of another car.

Better sell it as you may end up spending more on your daily car than your NSX.

Why do you think that? I had a VR-4 Spyder and I sold it because the future availability of service and parts is going to be non-existent. That, combined with the erratic behavior of the top mechanism was a big concern for me. The day I sold the car, the transmission went bad and was replaced under warranty. Thankfully the buyer was pleased that the warranty covered the $6,500 expense. I always had problems wit the brakes, and I was gauranteed to recieve free pads and rotors for the entire length of time that I owned the car.

Yes it is a rare vehicle, and that is why I purchased it. But unfortunately it will never become a collectible because Mitsubishi has no real heritage to speak of that will warrant any of their cars being a collectible.
 
I sort of considered it a few years back, but decided to get a twin turbo Supra instead! Never regretted that decision! :-) ..
 
I was shooting the breeze with my parts guy at the Acura dealership that also deals in Mitsubishi. We were talking about Mitsubishi and he leaned over towards me and whispered, "Look for Mitsubishi to be pulling out of the US market very soon." I don't know if this is true or not.

I had a Starion ESI-R back in 88. It was a pretty nice little car to drive. The only thing they produced in ,more recent years that caught my eye was the Diamante. Basically, Mitsubishi is insignificant in the car market. The only thing that was keeping them alive (in my opinion) for many years was the Eclipse. Now it looks like a turd and isn't selling. The new design for next also looks like a turd and won't sell.

True, but what about the EVO? Tuner mags are having a hay day with that thing.

At one point that may have been very likely.

Mitsu was/is screwed financially and they have their stupid 0%/0 down finance program from a few years ago to thank. They took in tons of people and theoretically sold a lot of cars to teens and people with bad credit - several of which defaulted. On top of that, they had some not so smart execs who were costing the company money (I forget how exactly) but I think some landed some jail time.

Part owner (stockholder) Chrysler was to come in and help them out by loaning them a few million or so, but decided not to at the last minute as they deemed Mitsu a lost cause.

Mitsu finally got some sort of plan together and a loan to help right the ship, but I still don't know how well or when they will be able to fully recover.

This is somewhat vague info, but it's the best I can remember when I first read about it last year from an auto news wire service.
