Blue Batmobile's Full Smoke Taillight Overlay(PICS)!

There are retro fit LED rear bulbs to fit NSX.Brand JamStrait. PN# 1157R cost 12.00 for two. Need two sets...See www.jamstrait.com also diffferent style called spydereyes ....maybe this will help with darker tint.. Brent

They're really not very effective unfortunately - not specifically commenting on that brand, but those appear no different than other retro leds available.
There's not much room to fit multi-cluster LEDs in the NSX housing to begin with and the angled nature of a couple of them, further reduces the intensity (LED's are VERY directional)

Am I the only one who is having trouble trying to get an email to Bat? I'm getting DNS delays and stuff.

I just ordered a set. Before doing so, I contacted the CHP to make sure this would not become something they would hassle me about (and give me a speeding ticket while at it perhaps). The officer I spoke to said there is no law against the tinting, but that the taillights must be visible from 100 feet back. That may be another reason to get 3/10 as I did (not to mention that I WANT people to be able to see me from 100 feet back!).

I originally posted this for FuryNSX (Randy) but anyone who has installed this will do. Can anyone who have had these installed post some better pics? It is not a huge investment if I don't like it, but its money none the less.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Randy,

Any chance you can take some better pics of the lights? Looks like you loose a lot of gloss from the overlays. I have sanded off the letters on the corners of the brake lights so I don't really care about that.

Can you take pics of:
The key hole
The edges near where the trunk closes
The indented line near where the turn signal is

Thanks in advance. This looks pretty good, but I am still hesitant. Also, were you there for he the install? Do you think any tint shop will do this or am I going to have to worry about cracked tail-lights from some goof-ball using a heat gun set too high?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry Hiroshima, I must have missed your post. I took a few pics today. I hope it helps. Let me know if I missed something.

As for install, the person that did the work also does car vinyl applications among other things. I don't know if a "tint" person will be able to do it, seeing that there were a few extreme curves and edges (like where the tailights turn up on the left and right side). I doubt a heat gun will warp or crack the taillights, but they overlay does need to be worked into place, particularly in the keyhole area and the aforementioned up-turned parts. Being that it was his first, the installer took about 30-45 minutes on the right side, and only about 15 minutes on the left one.

lol see Fury i love your car cuz i can always tell what certain mods will look like on mine!!! =)
tee hee, that black overlay on the Dreamsportz and your taillights looks really damn cool... very EVIL BAD GUY LOOKING... i love it.... hm... i might have to get this done to my taillights and Dreamsportz wing.....

a thought.... do you guys think it would look funny to leave the two verticle winglet parts of the taillights non-overlayed... so it looks like we have two tail lights on each end instead of one gigantic taillight?

photoshop anyone?

maybe like this??

Too bad I can't also give an example with a NSX-R wing. :( That might have to wait a while for more money.

Thanks Randy! Those pictures really help. Unfortunately for me, the loss of gloss is really a deal breaker. Again Randy, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Saved me some money.

Is that bubbles where the letters are on the tailights? It looks awesome from a distance, but not so hot up close? Brent

I finally installed my overlays last weekend. First off I'd like to thank Bat for a great product and superfast delivery. The overlays were as advertised and I'm very pleased with the result. I've tinted windows once but I'm no expert at it at all. Yet I was able to do this job in about 6 hours taking my time. Make sure you use a blowdryer; it really helps. Below are some pics of the finished product.

This is a shot in pretty direct sunlight.

This is a picture taken in indirect sunlight. The car is in the shade but it is still very bright and sunny outside.

Vega$ NSX,

Just for clarification, those are the 3/10, correct?

Oh sorry, forgot to clarify. Those are actually 6/10 tint. Don't underestimate the power of the Vegas sun!

Well, I went to finaly install the overlays. Then over heated it with the heat gun  What I did notice is the letters did not look good. So, I had this bright idea to sand them off. I used 1000 gritt wet/dry with water. Did not take very long to do it. It left behind very small scraches I then lightly hit it with a buffing wheel, PRESTO!! like new  See pics.
