I am doing a tune up on my NSX and thought I go ahead and replace the fuel pump out as well. I don't think it's been replace. My NSX is a 1996. About 19 years old. Might as well do it now before it goes out. I'm already doing everything else.

Walbro 225 LPH?
Automotive 340 LPH?
Walbro 400 LPH?

The wiring kit is good for those pumps that draw high current. For example, my pump is powered by 10ga wire straight off the alternator.

For your needs however, I would go with another OEM pump. Your first one lasted 19+ years, and the aftermarket ones have a high failure rate. Changing the pump is a PITA.

My $0.02.

I've run Walbro without any issues for years in different cars. Switching to Aeromotive since I want to run E85 on occasion.

There is nothing wrong with the OEM one as Mac said, but I would like to see evidence that they fail at a high rate. They are highly used by many. Aeromotive quality checks each pump before it is sent out, and is considered to be better than Walbro.

Discounted would be $300 shipped.

A Walbro from SOS would be $150 shipped... or less from another reputable vendor.

If you don't change it yourself, you're looking at a good three hours... so parts cost would about equal the labor.

Just do a search on this forum for a number of failed Walbros and Aeromotives. Then, expand your search to google for many issues in the aftermarket community in general.

I have no idea what the failure rate is, and I'm happy yours is working great for you. But, I didn't want to chance it with the bad publicity on this forum and many others.

I started with a Walbro, switched to a Denso "Supra," and then ended up with the finest - a Weldon.

Again, just my $0.02.

I will be doing the replacement myself. Humm..3 Hours? I replace the factory fuel pump with a Walbro 225 in my first NSX a long time ago and I don't remember taking me 3 hours to do. Took me an hour in a half if I remember correctly. I guess I will get my buddy's to call the dealer tomorrow and get a price for me.

Weldon? Never heard of it. Ima look into it now and see.

Tyler I spent $300.00 on an OEM. I let David Fischer replace it though. I understood it was a PITA to change out. I just wasn't in the mood to tackle it.

Wow, $300 for an OEM fuel pump?! Im not doing any kinda crazy horse power upgrade or anything just want to replace the old one out and install a new or better one just incase it goes out on me while im doing everything else. I replace the fuel pump before in my first NSX so I will be doing it myself again this time. I guess ima have to chuck out $300 for an OEM one then. Hehe

Ima see if my buddy can get me a discount at Acura for it. I think last time he told me he gets a 25% discount on all parts and I have another buddy that gets discount also at Acura. Maybe i can get the fuel pump less than $300!

Walbro 400. Here's the article on Project NSX:
