Bear Mt area run this Saturday morning if anyone is interested

Nice!! You mind meeting in Parsippany? We can take 287 to Thruway North to Monroe and take the back way to Bear Mountain. That way the roads are a little better, unfortunately my car rides as hard as a Porsche cup car.

I have to check with Karen first, we maybe able to get a baby sitter and she can come along.

Cool, sounds good. Parsippany is close to me. Yea, I can stop by. PM me if you can go.

Dave

That's way too late to take advantage of the roads, you'll be doing the BMC (Bear Mountain Crawl)

Tytus,
Lunch is a possibility...would u please send me the address or direction to the restaurant?

Thanks,
Simon

See if this works....

Is this where we are meeting? Now we just need time.

That's very close to where we are meeting. You gotta love Google Maps, the intersection is shown correctly but the arrow does not point to the restaurant it points to a house in a residential area. The restaurant is just South of the intersection of Knollwood Rd, West Hartsdale Ave and Dobbs Ferry Rd in that little triangle.

Is anyone meeting us at the traffic circle in Annsville before the Bear Mountain Bridge? If not we can just drive past there, get gas if anyone needs it and continue over the BM bridge to BM.

I don't disagree with you but historically last year no body was able to get there any sooner than 9:00 AM. It is early in the season so I don't think it will be that bad.

We can meet between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM and leave no later than 9:15. There are laway stragglers. If nobody is going to meet us at the Annsville Gas Station at teh 202/6 and 9 intersection circle we won't have a time constraint there and can just continue on to BM bridge, unless someone has to pee.

We should be there by 1:00 PM, as that is when they open on Sunday I am not sure who all is going to go but call me during the drive and I will let you know.

See ya then,

Tytus

^^

Are you guys gonna post a list of who is getting together along with all the meeting points? I would assume you're all not gonna just meet at the cafe as then it would just be a 20 minute drive for everyone to Bear Mtn..

I'm just trying to figure out if a couple of us are coming up from Jersey if we should meet you guys beforethe cafe, at the cafe, or at Bear Mtn. I'm also not sure of Bear Mtn. is a meeting point or the destination?

John, there are great roads all around that area that we drive, lots of twisties that are "scenic" as well. I always like running it early as traffic certainly takes from the "enjoyment". We usually drive for at least an hour around the area, sometimes stop and enjoy the scenery. The place that Tytus does lunch at I can't speak of but I don't go for the meals, I go for the drive/company. I'd love to see you and Karen!!!

It looks like we got a baby sitter so (90%) we will be there. I just want to firm up some more of the logistics as my car isn't the easiest to just drive around aimlessly. I like to have a bit more mapped out first. However as long as I have a meeting place and a I time I should be OK.

As it is unless I hear something different it might be best if Winreboot and I just meet up in Jersey and drive to Bear Mtn to meet you guys there. As it may not make sense for me to go across the Tapan Zee and drive up to Croton on the Hudson. Then again, we need to eat :)

So far the only commitments, correctly if I am wrong, are ae8600rr, winreboot and myself. Others so far, RPM217, jadkar, pbassjo, nsxman2001, DRIFTER and Acura NSX Pilot are all maybe or not commited yet 100%. Have I missed anyone?

If your status changes let us know so we don't wait or miss you.

The runs I have done are as follows:

We go up the Sprain Pkwy to the Briarcliff Highway up route 9 then past the Annesville circle up 202/6 which is one hell of a sweet road and cross the Bear Mountain Bridge. Then, if it is open, we have gone up 9W to run Storm King Highway (above West Point) a very sweet section of road and from there we can drive back down to Bear Mountain or continue to Harriman Park via 293, then we zip around the various roads within the park as RPM127 indicated, stop at a mountain top here and there at best, and in the end head for lunch somewhere.

Depending on the size of the group we can tailor the drive. This is not a formalized route or drive.

I don't recommend meeting at BM since it is more of a place to drive than a destination at which we stop and meet. Lunch has been more of the destination at the end.

Hope this clears things up for those interested. Please confirm who is going.

Tytus

Very Cool...thanks!! I'm very familiar with that area as I went to High School in Mahopac and visited my Dad who lived in Newburgh all the time. I would drive up through the Mohegan Lake area to the circle and over the Bear Mtn Bridge then of course up 9W. Truely great roads!! A matter a fact I rolled another CRX I owned on 9W north around that area a long time ago

If Bear Mtn. is just a "point" on the trip I think it maybe better to meet you guys somewhere in Westchester. I need to talk to Roger and see where he meets up.

I am a definite though, just don't know where I will join up with you guys.

Roger likes to meet just off 287 past White Plains. The posted meeting spot is closer to you. If you come across the Tappanzee, the restaurant parking lot that is identified in this thread, Mighty Joe Young's, is about 3 minutes from the bridge; 1 exit South on the Sprain from 287 (Dobbs Ferry Rd exit) and you make a left, go through 2 lights, make a right at the Shell station and you are there. We hop back on right there and head North for the drive.

Couldn't be easier or more on the way for you and everyone else is meeting there.

See you then,

Tytus

OK, Winreboot and I will be coming up from Jersey and we'll be at Mighty Joe Young's at 9:00AM

Cya tomorrow!!

Sure hope that Karen's joining you as I haven't seen the two of you in awhile. I'll be there as well, and expect Bailey too. I'm a little concerned about the "late" hour as once traffice builds on the Mtn, it's nowhere near as much fun. I hope to be proven wrong!

Karen will be there. Don't worry too much about the traffic. I used to drive that way all the time and it really doesn't matter. Once you get behind one car you're doomed and that can happen at 5:00AM on a Sunday just as well as 10:00AM. I wasn't expecting to be able to fly through that section anyway, just good views. 9W north is better because of the 2 lanes.

If you guys wanted good fast consistent driving you should just stay on the taconic and travel above Mahopac :) you know...where we all got pulled over 4 years ago ;)

Either that or go to the Glen!!

Hi All...

I'm going to try to depart home by 6:30 am and get to Mighty Joes before 9 am. I am way past due with inspection stickers but that should only be a risk for the 6 miles it takes to get out of PA

Roger - Don't expect Bags to be with me - it's way way too early for her on a Sunday morning!
Tony, let her sleep in the car tonight, that way when you get up here she'll be fresh and ready. It's been too long, I look forward to seeing you (and Bags too)!!

Great turnout and great to see everyone today. I did miss Bags, but Tony let me speak with her (not the same, but still a delight!!) Saw some old friends (Jadkar aka John and Karen) and he certainly enjoyed spanking the NSX's with his little pedal powered CRX. Hope the little "incident" didn't ruin Bernards day and like you said, good excuse for the 02+ front!! There were a few cameras so c'mon and post up the pictures of the beauties out in the wild!!!

Here ya go Roger....

It was great seeing all of you and meeting some new friends!! Like I keep saying, it's been too long.

Fortunately my tuning held together this time and I think she performed quite nicely. My little CRX even seemed to be very 911 GT3-RS friendly today ;) Pictures look great Tony..except for the ones of my fat ass. Dave the new paint look real good and Bailey I really like those wheels..... what are they called :)

I'm sorry I had to bail on you guys during that last little incident but I have no inspection (literally) and I really didn't want to hear what the nice Police Officers would have to say about that.

See you guys soon!!

It was so nice to see every one again and I hope we can get together more often. Here are some pics. I feel bad for the accident that happen but you are ok.
