Awesome drive set for 7-22 to Lake Arrowhead

Please be there by 8:30 as we need to have a drivers meet and leave by 9:00 SHARP. This is very important for our restaurant reservations. They are roping off an area for us to park and giving us the whole patio with view of the lake so I don't want to be late.

JonathAn, don't worry. II haven't made them yet and will be printing off Les's list, to add the names to that tags. As long as he has it spelled correctly (and he does) I will too. And, no, you didn't ask for a name tag for your friend.
...........and this is why Socal is the best! Please find the time to thank them for setting all this up. As for Les, pls give him a swift kick in the nutz for me.

Hey So Cal NSXers, these name tags are going smoothly for me so I'm thinking of making one for everyone, even new ones for the people who already have one AND for the +1s who are just friends along for the day.

If you are on the list but didn't give a name for your +1, please post and tell us their name so I can make them a name tag too.

I'm making new ones for those of us who already have one because the newer version is better looking. The first one's I gave out, at the Avenger's movie, were 4" wide by 3" tall, and had too much white space on the sides. These new ones look better since they are 3" by 3".

Okay, guys, I have 49 new avatar name tags printed on photo paper, and tomorrow, Tuesday, I plan on laminating them, to be done. I've made one for everyone on the list of 36 screen names and their +1s except for:

Nemo +1 Nemo, I need a name.

caliballa22 +1 Chris, I need a name.

Track Addict +1 Jonathan, I need a name.

liftnot Tim, you said you aren't coming.

9doors Nick and Patty, Are you sure you aren't coming?

Unfortunately I'd say we're 95% out. Won't know for sure until Sat. We will of course see you in the future, so if you just want to do our name tags and hold onto them till we see you next, that'd be great.

^Okay, I'll make them while I'm at it.

BTW, I asked the organizer of a Miata group run if he minded if I joined with my S2000, last month, after I saw a post on Prime about the meet, that invited NSXs. He hesitated to answer long enough that I knew he wasn't keen on the idea so I politely didn't push it and understood that he didn't want to be rude but also would rather I didn't join. I didn't.[/QUOTE]

When I showed up (with my NSX ) for the 7/8 Miata/Sky/Solstice run Neal (event coordinator) told me that a woman from the NSX group had called and asked about joining. Neal was confused because I had not told him that I invited the NSX club (my bad for not telling him) and hesitated in answering. I'm sorry that I did not tell Neal in advance. In any event his response should have been an enthusiastic "yes" since it is the mission of the san diego miata club to promote the club and its activities-----and there is no better way to do it than by joining a club run. I'm sorry that you were not enthusiastically welcomed and let me apologize Patty from the bottom of my heart for Neal's hesitation.

That would have been awkward if bunch of us showed up in our NSX's.

actually not. I made it a point to show up with my NSX to be there to welcome any/all NSX Primers who also showed up. The group was so large they ended up with two run leaders and two sweeps and a delayed start between groups.....but no one was turned away (including me)

Alan, I was glad you included the phone number of the point of contact, Neal. You have nothing to apologize for. I've been on dozens of drives with my S2000 and, a dozen or so, with my NSX. Sometimes extra cars are fine but not always. The S2000 Vintage (over 40 years-old) Owners drives I go on back east every year, are run like a machine. There is a cut off on the number of cars in each group and we have leaders and tail-gunners for each group who have pre-run the course many times. I respect the organizer's wishes for each drive.

I seriously wish I could go on this run. I've been to Big Bear many times but never up to Arrowhead or up the back way. Oh well. I'll either end up going by myself or I'm sure Les will run this route again some time in the future. I hope all of you have an "AWESOME" time.....(I'm sure you will) BE SAFE !!!

First time post. Got first nsx 3 weeks ago. Can I go? If so plus one.
Mike

Plus one would be joanna
Thanks

Mike, I've got you and Joanna covered. I'll make your name tags later today so if you have a chance upload an avatar with your screen name, today. It makes your name tag more interesting although its not a requirement at all.

^Here's a finished product from the first version, that was 4" wide.

^At the May 2012 NSX meet to see the Avengers movie. Come and get 'em. These are all 4" wide.

^I made 91 name tags for the Vintage Spring Fling held in Hagerstown, Maryland in May. These are in the works, not yet laminated or with their backs on. I decided 3" by 3" looked much better so that's why I remade all of them in that size for this meet on Sunday.

I wish you were going, too! I used to do this drive with my ex husband with both of our S2000s. It's a fun road up there.
