the article i posted in my "posting new nsx pics" thread has been translated...............some of it proved slightly vague as has most information leaked on the new nsx. Unfortunately no comment on the black car pictured in the photograph...frustrating

1) The new nsx project has officially been started

2) The engine is to be a turbo v6 3.7 litre. Conjecture on the power, but its anything from 330-400ps. The bench mark performance is supposed to be similar to that of a porsche 911 turbo, 4.2 seconds 0-100. 305 km/h top speed.

3) The vague part was that they were keeping the same basic platform, but radically redesigning the outer skin and the aforementioned engine (hence the picture of the white concept on the cover)

4) Vague part 2; Evidently a gt production car version is in the works, will be raced first, then a road going model. First release will be either in 1 year or as stated in the second article, 2006.

Lets not shoot the messenger ;) this is what it said, food for thought :)

You might be able to eliminate this part of the story. I don't think any of the main sanctioning bodies allow a GT car to be raced w/o production cars first. Remember the BMW GTR? It could be the the engine could show up in SRP in the ALMS series or in Daytona Prototypes.

Interesting stuff AJ... probably the most realistic NSX2 projections I've read... no "v12 with 600 ponies" nonsense... but only time will tell if the magazine got it right. :)

you really think Honda would use turbo though?

Looking at current Honda engine's HP/liter ratio, Honda can achieve 400 hp using a 3.5 Liter engine. I doubt the magazine's info is accurate and it is unlikely Honda will add turbo when they can achieve this goal by different engine tuning.

hmm... that seems to go against honda's philosophy of high reving, maximum hp per litre, n/a engines. but, anything is possible. has honda EVER made a turbo car?

oh, i guess they did, the CITY TURBO in japan. other than that, have there been any others?

The trend in Japan is going from turbo to non-turbo. 300ZX Turbo was discontinued in favor for the 350Z. Sames goes for the RX7 and RX8. I really doubt they would.

as neo said its a magazine report......so who knows, they seemed quite adamant on the turbo part though! time will tell, at least they are? making a new nsx...........i'll keep my eye out for any other info, i have no comment really, just bringing you the info i find!

Honda doesn't disregard turbo's all together. Their brand new jet ski comes with a turbo. Not apples to apples though. The info from the article still seems to be based on fiction.

A partial reason of the demise of the 300ZX, RX7 and Supra was the escalading prices. I think the lack of turbos in the 350Z and RX8 is to keep the price relatively affordable so they can sell units in the 5 digit range, instead of 4 (like the sales figures of the '95-'96 300ZXs).

They did make a CX 500 & 650 Turbo bike in 82 & 83. I owned the 500 and it was a big heavy slug. Poor sales killed it.

Tom Larkins,

I believe the rule is that for every FIAGT1 car, there has to be 1 road going counterpart. Just 1. Example being the Porsche GT1 of the late 90's and the Benz CLK-GTR. Neither was produced for normal pocket consumption, but someone out there has one.

Call me crazy but why not just make it look like
the brand new gt500 cars and turbo or supercharge it and shut everyone the hell up???

:D Thats what I'd like :D

And while were at it MAKE OZZY OSBOURNE president.
He should last at least 1 term,NO?? :p
