AP-X NSX turbo system (angus turbo kit)

Re: DIY Turbo kit

The 400Whp mark is generally accepted as the max on pump gas alone , more has been achieved but is risky, this kit also produces this power at 8psi , at 9psi with meth it makes 475whp.

I'm assuming this is on stock injectors and fuel pump, correct? What's the maximum the injectors would go before jumping to something bigger?

If it's a open wastegate do you offer a kit to re-route the wastegate to the exhaust for those who don't like the loudness?

The numbers are perfect for a car that weights 3000lbs. Especially if you are seeing full boost at 2-3k... I think Christmas is going to come early for me.:)

Actually , the 400whp mark is getting close to the limit for the stock composite headgaskets .

The stock injectors are already upgraded in this kit.

The stock fuel pump has lots of flow , to over 400whp

There is an available option to re-route the wastegate , buy you will find it is not really loud - nothing like a 4 cyl. car or some supras I've heard, it actually just sounds like a slightly more pronounced vtec , you can hear it on the dyno videos .

The 400whp mark is really fun in this car , please keep in mind that while boost starts at 2-3k , it is not going to come on with a big "bang", if you look at the dyno charts you will see that the shape of the power curve does not differ that much from stock (except it is higher at almost very point)

What this means is that the original balance and driveability of the car is preserved - it still feels like an NSX - ONLY WAY FASTER!

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I don't even notice the wastegate when I have the windows up.

I just saw the dyno charts and a few other turbo threads, really impressed with the price and stabilitity of turbo on a stock motor. The powerband doesn't seem to be as drastic as some other imports, but it definitely has a nice curve to it. It almost seems as if it were still an N/A :)

Thanks for the info, I'm seriously considering doing this. Great work.

I'll be here when you are ready.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I was at Wil's shop last week to talk about the turbo kit. He answered all of my questions and showed me around his shop. His welds are very well done and the quality of the parts seem to be top notch. Needless to say, I was impressed and I put a deposit down for a kit. Can't wait to get it installed. The NSX really needs an hp increase.

Wil, I'm still expecting a ride in your car when you get it out of storage.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

You won't be disapointed!! His car is fast and you car should be very fun aswell.
I took mine out of storage today and cant wait to take it for a drive.

Well , your kit is 99% done , just waiting on a couple parts to arrive by early next week .

You will not need a ride in my car, as you will very soon have your own turbo NSX.

I think indy and cozmo would be a good race...

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I gave a couple friends rides in my car yesterday for the first time. Let's just say there was a lot of giggling going on in the passenger seat.

I handed one of them the camera and filmed a couple bits for my video too before it got too dark.

99%? That was fast. I still haven't received my papers from RIV yet, so I can't register and insure it yet.:frown: Hopefully I'll get the papers in this week.

It's OK , I won't be able to get you in for a while , in the mean time you can take the kit home and drool over it!

Here's huck-jai's kit!

Look's Sweet Wil! Can't wait to pick it up! Unfortunately I won't be able to install it yet, or do the other work to the car we had planned at the moment. Mods have been put on hold for the time being. Just got hit with another financial obligation I have to take care of first. Maybe I'll install the kit with my friend. I've tinkered with toys throughout the years and shouldn't be too hard to tackle. Is there a base map with the FIC to get the car to the dyno?

Re: DIY Turbo kit

You should be able to get yourself to the dyno with just doing the auto fuel map which the FIC software can generate based on injector sizes. You just won't be able to boost at all without the ECU freaking out. I actually disconnected my FIC to diagnose something the other day and my car started up and drove fine around the parking lot.

Or you could just drive it to the dyno and put the injectors in once you get there .

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I have a turbo kit which will be going at a HUGE discount , please pm me for details.

Thanks,
Wil

Re: DIY Turbo kit

HUGE??? Can I refund my kit and buy this one? lol

Sure but there will be a $5000 de-install and re-install fee.

The weather is great today. I'm going to go do some turbo filming after work.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

Re: DIY Turbo kit
