Also, I want to see some of Franks pictures!!!...interested in seeing his polished/ ceramic coated kit with the special (driving ambition) intercooler setup in the engine bay....hook it up frank!:biggrin::biggrin:

All in all, Wil this seems like a great setup/product for our NSX community. Great job!

Well you should just tell your wife that since cozmo got to buy one, you should get to buy one too...

Re: DIY Turbo kit

Hey what's the capacity of your custom meth tank?

Re: DIY Turbo kit

The Tank holds approx 3.5 gal.

- Are you coming over to the methanol dark side?

Nah I was just curious.. because of this thread.

Although it does look like it'd be pretty easy due to the FIC having dual calibration mode, you could switch between maps automatically if your tank runs dry.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

So, how fast is your car now cozmo?

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I was cruising down the freeway going 60 or so and decided to hold it at full boost for a few seconds to make sure it was stable (with the new WG spring and boost controller setting) so I stomped on the gas and next thing I knew I was going [CENSORED] mph.

I burned a lot of gas yesterday.

Yeah I've been meaning to do that for a while now. I don't really have an excuse now that the weather has improved.

I'm writing down some ideas right now so if there's anything in particular you'd like to see let me know.

Video of a:

•60-130 run (tach)
•WOT Fly-by (stay on the throttle for atleast 3 seconds after you pass the camera)
•Launch (camera is stationary behind the car)

Re: DIY Turbo kit

Haha - cozmo, you've been called out...

Re: DIY Turbo kit

Hey folks , just wanted to add that I now offer:

***LIFETIME WARRANTY ON TURBOCHARGER, WASTEGATE AND PIPING***

And NO , this does not mean you will need it , just a nice added bonus.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I am so happy with this kit, I would also like to thank everyone who has supported me !

Is the last part of your post a line from a song???

Re: DIY Turbo kit

This an awesome kit, great work. I am very impressed.

Quick question. What kind of numbers can you see on pump gas safely? Or is this kit specifically only for meth & race gas tunning?

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I'm running pump gas (92 octane, best you can get in WA) with no meth and am doing 411hp to the wheels.

The 400Whp mark is generally accepted as the max on pump gas alone , more has been achieved but is risky, this kit also produces this power at 8psi , at 9psi with meth it makes 475whp.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

Does your meth kit have the safeguard thing that sends voltage out a line or whatever if it stops working or you run out? I could hook it up to my FIC and use it to switch to an alternate tune that way. I'll probably end up going that way eventually. Maybe it'll reduce my paranoia

Re: DIY Turbo kit

YES - there is a provision to run a failsafe , you can set it up on a "nitrous" map so the FIC will switch to a different tune if there is an issue , I personally tune methanol setups differently and have posted about it elsewhere too:

If you set up your methanol to flow enough volume , your methanol will be it's own failsafe, I set up cars so that if the methanol cuts off for any reason (ie. runs out of meth , pump fails , fuse blows , etc.) the AFR will go into 17-18:1 range - at this AFR the car will not even accelerate under boost, car will just bog as soon as you go into boost - not to mention you will see your AFR gauge go dead lean...

I am not a fan of anything complicated and this is by far the simplest way to set up the methanol - no extra wires or nitrous maps needed.

What you are doing is running enough cc's of methanol so that you can trim the fuel down under boost (you are supplementing the fuel with methanol) this means if/when your meth is not flowing , your AFR will go lean , the trick is to set it up so it will go leaner than 17:1 as I have found that at that AFR the car bogs down and will not even accelerate, thus preventing engine damage.

The car will still run perfectly normal at any boost level below the start point even if the methanol is not flowing for whatever reason and thus allowing you to drive basically anywhere you like as long as you do not boost abouve the start point of your methanol flow.

This is just my 2¢

P.S. I have already mentioned before that your tune looks lean , please verify you are running 11.5 under boost and full throttle.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

I added more fuel since then, but I still need to go out and log a full boost run to see how it looks.

You use the vari-cool kit right? It has some fancy controller with a vacuum line so you can control when it kicks on based on boost.

Re: DIY Turbo kit

Looks like I need to fly you both out to set up my FIC!

The kit is coolingmist , it has a fully programmable controller that is one of the most advanced units available.

Glad to see you're not running lean.
