Anyone pick up an XBox360?

I fail to see why people insist on holding Sony's products so high and mighty. I was a rampant Sony fan until I realized their incomprehensible greed. My Sony computer is full of glitches that HP has never displayed, Sony's ATRAC format is a proprietary piece of incompatible shit, and the architecture for the PS2, and more so the PS3, is absolutely terrible to work with. I am sick of Microsoft being seen as the "Evil Giant" when in truth Sony is more manipulative on more levels across the field. If you really wanted to support the little guy, then everyone here would have bought the Dreamcast.

It was on the news that some guys sold theres for $3000. Supposedly, they are not gonna ship anymore til sometime in March. Most of those units are already spoken for.

Uh, what's a Dreamcast?

Akira, they really rushed this platform to market so developers haven't had a chance to create original content designed specifically to the strengths of the platform.

Arshad, I'm very familiar with the process of developing games for new consoles (I'm especially glad I've never worked on a launch title) and I'm not saying that PS3 won't have the same problem. I'm just basically giving reasons why I would not buy a Xbox360 now. The guys who have made more than $2500 on Ebay have the right idea...the system is not worth owning yet.

I picked up a core today, after reading all the comments, I don't think I'm going to open it. I will post on Ebay and make some profit, and will use that towards the PS3.

I was one of the few to get a Premium system, during the big Monday night Wal Mart release. (Stood in line for 10 hours)

I have PGR 3 and Call of Duty 2. The console itself is fantastic, the games are mediocre at best. As others have said, the launch titles were rushed and it's obvious. If it were not for games like Test Drive Unlimited and Gears of War, each slated to hit the scene in early '06, I would have sold it already.

Now if only she could figure out how to hook it up

I used to be a huge sony fan. had a Playstation 1 when they first came out in 1995, and had a ps2 as soon as i could find one in stores.
After my ps2 bit the dust (disc read error) they fixed it for free. i still like sony.
16 months later i get it again (disc read error) and all of the sudden, its not their fault, and they want 40$ plus shipping to fix it.
I got my xbox360 premium after waiting in line at a circuit city all night. The games could be better, but i understand they were rushed. I'm absolutely addicted to Project Gotham.
I see it being hard for sony to get an advantage for their hardware. Developers would need to code specifically for their Cell architecture, which wouldnt translate well to other platforms. This is a bad business model for everyone who's name is not "Sony".
Sure, gt5, Metal Gear something, and some other first party titles will look beautiful, but i dont see it happening On a large enough scale. Plus i now hate sony, so i'll continue to play my xbox.

As for the design, i think the 360 is the best "system" ever. The functionality is incredible. All wireless, a Fully fleshed out online component, and finally a slick clean form factor, this could be the ticket for them to win it all this generation.

I got mine and couldn't hold out to sell it..too much time on my hands. I opened it up and am extremely addicted to Project Gotham Racing 3 and NFS:Most Wanted. It is very different from GT4 but that's why I love it. I think DOA4 is the game that will showcase this console. I traded in my PS2 and will not be going back to the PS anytime soon!

Betamax, minidisc, spyware cds, memory stick, atrac, bluray, the list goes on and on. Sony wants to do things their way so they can make as much money as possible, meanwhile their consumer electronics are going down the drain. Samsung is kicking their ass. Everyone is reporting that the PS3 is a PITA to code for, more Sony bullshit.

I heard this too, sounds bad for their games. I don't think that the PS3 will come out on time anyway, ala GT3. BluRay sounds cool, but it could be the next BetaMax, my parents still have one of those. I was all about the PS2, then I got an XBox and have loved it since. I would rather play the XBox over PS2 anytime. I just hope the 360 gets better third party support.
