Have you considered going w/ artificial turf? Sorry if someone has brought this up as I didn't have time to read the entire thread. I have had the stuff for 4 years with no regrets. Some weeds can still grow through it so it makes it look real! That's my excuse for not pulling them anyway. It also has a life expectancy of 15 years.
