any one know jet skis?

OK... this subject is being revisited because the season is practically over, the economy is dumping, and i hope there are people desparate to raise cash by selling their toys.

turns out my neighbor, who doesn't strike me as desparate (ford GT, superperformance gt40, explorer, expedition, excursion, porsche 911 turbo cab, wrx sti, and a frikking helicopter for chrissakes!!) is selling his two older skis. he has two new ones to replace them.

Gerry, Here are links to NADA values on our two skis for sale. Also see attached photo.

both, including trailer, for about $8k. He said both were sunk last year, and both engines fully rebuilt and less than 5 hrs each since rebuid.

opinions? both are 2 strokers. MY 2000

Value depends on the condition and if the rebuilds were done professionally. Even then, MY2000 skis should be cheaper than that at this time of year. Being sunk is also not a good thing. It not only messes up the engines, it can lead to electrical problems from corrosion if they were salt water units.

Stick a "Troubled Youth Ranch" sign in your front yard and get him to donate the skis to your charity for a tax write-off. If that doesn't work, offer $6k.

Did they sink it salt water?

fresh water i beleive. i've asked for all paperwork pertaining to the rebuilds, incl any warranty info.

I would not buy a ski that has been sunk. But if I were considering one I would never buy one that was sunk in salt water, never, ever, ever!!!

Find out and be sure it was not salt water the ski went down in.

A rebuild was only necessary on the Yamaha if there was hydrolock or if it wasn't addressed rapidly. Someone pulled the the drain plug from my GPR as a prank, the entire engine compartment filled with water and water was sucked into the engine via the carbs when I tried to start it. Pulled the waverunner, pulled the plugs and cleared the cylinders. Started up after drying the cylinders with no problems. That was 50 hours ago. On the other hand, friends Sea Doo was filled while the engine was running and "boom", hydrolock and blown heads.
