Another NSX fraud

Hey guys

Sorry I've been out of the loop lately. I saw this post and had to reply. As a police officer, I can't stress more the importance of keeping your personal information confidential. I have honestly never used Ebay. I have alot of friends that have used Ebay to get some really great deals. I doubt that the officers you dealt with would really have the authority (probable cause) to arrest you. It seems there are some rather big loop holes in the workings of Ebay. I am not sure but Ebay only covers a small amount for those who are victims of false sellers. I am really sorry to hear about what happened. I wouldn't stress it though. Lesson learned: Keep your personal info to yourself (easier said than done though nowadays):(

Take care guys

My bank needed a copy of the title to verify that it was not salvaged, flooded, etc. and to prove the car did in fact exist.

All of this was need prior to funding, which is required before the seller would sign the title over.

Makes paperless title transfers difficult... Ask me how I know.

I guess it depends on the institution. When I bought my NSX, I just wnet to my Credit Union with the wire transfer information of the seller and off the money went. I received the title about 1 week later in the mail and the car about 5 week later. My bank didn't ask for any information about the car. They didn't even ask why I was sending money to someone or what I was using the money for. I guess if you are taking out a load that is a different story, but my money came right out of my savings account. The only institution that wanted to see a title and the car itself was my insurance company.

Ken,

I read the whole long story and this guy has no one to blame but himself. I feel pitty for him, but COME ON. He should have known. All the classic signs were there. This guy is the reason crooks are still in business. He felt in his stomach that this car was not right. He should have backed out and flew back home!!

Wow, what a long BMW story. I read it all too.. it sucks he didnt use more common-sense and took more precautions before travelling to Florida to inspect, let alone purchase a bum car.

I guess too much coffee ruins your train of thought. ;)

The worst part about that story is the fact that I stayed up 'til 3am on a week night reading it. I would have gotten a better return on my investment in sleep than in the ramblings of some foolish guy.

Thanks, hondaholic. Now I feel better about not reading that long ass story. He needs to write a Cliff's Notes version. :D
