Post the full size pics, please! Thumbnails are too small....

Now thats an extremely clean install! Way better then mine, no doubt. Now you have to let someone else drive your car so you can hear it on the outside! I keep trading rides with friends just so I can drive next to my own car! :D

After reading about all the happy Flowmaster users I thought it was time to jump on the band wagon. Here are couple of pics for those that are interested. I really love the sound throughout the rpm range and I can't seem to keep my foot off the throttle. PS I hope the pics come up!

I don't have a microscope ... can you please post some larger photos.

Thx ... NSX IMAGE

What size pipe did you use? 2 1/2" in and out? Congrats it really looks like a nice install. Can't wait to get mine on , have all the parts already.:D

That is a clean install. What is the Flowmaster part number for that muffler? I don't see that style on the Flowmaster website.

Thanks.

Nev, This particular exhaust was custom made by a very experienced fabricator Kenny Butcher here in Victoria, Canada. This guy has built exhausts and headers for some of the most amazing cars, imports and domestics. He started with the Flow Master muffler #42582 and then custom bent and welded the tubing to get the finished product you see in the pictures. It took him about 5 days to fabricate this because he is very picky. Also I had him add brand new after market high flow cats. As for the cost it was around US $1300.-. About $800.- of that is just for materials, SS tubing, cats, mufler ect. Now this is quite a bit more than what most of our fellow NSXers on this forum have paid, but in defense of Kenny, you get what you pay for. It would probably cost less now that he has made the first one. Plus this one was built to fit the Comptech Headers. In your case, depending on what type of headers you have your best bet would be to find a good muffler shop where you live and ask if they can make one for you. Print the pics and take them with you. If you want I can send you higher resolution pics.

Stephen, that finish looks flawless. It might be worth it to purchase the exhaust and have it sent to your Bender for finishing, and then to the end buyer. I don't know that I could replicate that type of quality with anyone I know. I guess I can check with my local welder.

Can you send me some hi res pics please?

I've heard the flowmaster in person(I suggest that, before you take the next step). Very, very loud. It screams. It screams ticket me. JMHO

Was this with the cats off? I have the FM installed on my na NSX and some of the NSX guys commented, "It's not really loud!" We have a variity here; Comptech,RM dtm, Taitec, etc.
ps - I've yet to be ticketed, let alone pulled over in the NSX!! :D knock on wood....

Anytime either heard mine at the AutoX or Tan's setup. Mine has cats but huge 3" outlet piping.

Tan's setup seems to scream. He has 2.5" in and out... but for some reason, his just screams... high pitched. Maybe Tan just likes to rev it more... :)

Do you two have the same muffler?

Kenny had 2 1/2' tubing and his sounded almost the same as yours.
Doesn't make sense...

I don't know.

Stephen, please let us know how durable your setup is... especially the muffler itself. It looks like they did not do anything with the muffler itself in regards to coating it with some kind of corrosion protection....

Kinan, based on my understanding Flow Master only makes one muffler that works for our application, #42582. This was verified by the guy who fabricated this exhaust.

Conrad, This particular muffler in my humble opinion is very durable, made of heavy and I mean heavy gage steal and it weighs a little more than most. There is no steel wool packing in the unit to burn out. The mufflers sound is controlled through steel plates arranged at various angles inside and welded in place. I bet and the installer agrees that the muffler will last about 5 years maybe more. By that time Flow Master will have come out with the SS version of this muffler. In my case I had the guy make it so that I will be able to switch a new SS one with the steal one with very little work.
