Advice vs. advise

markb... i'm afraid you have 3 incorrect
I will admit, after a little research, that 'champing at the bit' seems to be the accepted idiomatic phrase. (That's 1)

There is no such word as 'pronounciation' according to Websters.

What are the other two errors?

This one has been killing me lately for some reason.

People will write, in an Ebay ad for example.

I only except PAYPAL

Well Sir, I see that you only except PAYPAL, but can you accept COD?

Not a big deal, but like someone else said, sometimes when you are reading other websites, or anything on the net for that matter, you really need to think as you are reading to understand what some people are trying to say.

my mistake. i must've miscounted. i should've said two.
your second error was on disinterested/uninterested. disinterested means unbiased and uninterested means not interested.

Hey jaytip, I wasn't picking on you. As I teacher I get hyper-sensitive to grammar misuse/abuse. I constantly correct my students' speaking, and I'm a music teacher. With your misprint I wasn't judging you, rather pointing out a common error that I see online. Hey, maybe English isn't your primary language.

Here's another on I saw today:

"i let off the clutch late do to the fact that i wasnt paying attn..."

I can almost forgive the lack of capitals and apostrophies, but come on, "do to the fact"?

Take this test. I think a lot of people here would fail miserably. (It's a test about commonly confused words.)

:frown: I had this results:
Oddly Intermediate
You scored 0% Beginner, 86% Intermediate, 75% Advanced, and 66% Expert!

I still have to learn a lot, I guess....

edit: Just read the correct answers in the beginner section and saw that I had more than 80% correct! The explanation for this strange result is on the same website:

"This is how it works: I wrote the questions, and I assigned points to each correct question. The program (or whatever it is called) on OKCupid calculates your score based on your answers and the points that I assigned to each answer. Sometimes its calculations are wrong, giving you 0% when you answered all of them correctly in reality. I am very sorry about this; however, there is nothing I can do about it! That is one of the main reasons I created this blog - so you can check your answers. Please don't get mad at me and post the fact that OKCupid scored your test wrong."

So please be prepared to fail in this test even if you have everything correct!!

Well here are my results. I guess all those years of education have  payed (sic) off!

Advanced
You scored 93% Beginner, 93% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 72% Expert!

My score. I am no expert but it looks like I am not a beginner either. Good thing I hired a secretary, attorney, and accountant who knows these things. I could have wasted a lot of valuable time trying to learn them.

You scored 66% Beginner, 66% Intermediate, 75% Advanced, and 61% Expert!

Well, I'll admit to enjoying quizzes of this kind, so I squandered 5 minutes on it. Here's my result:
English Genius
You scored 94% Beginner, 93% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, 83%Expert!

Disclosure: I have a journalism degree from the Univ. of Georgia, and I am a native southerner!

Now, if I could get my track skills to match my language skills... !

Hey, looking at your results (mother language is english, right?) I'm not that bad as an alien from 3rd world, am I? (Regarding that my beginner's result was false).

If you're a real alien where is your spaceship?

Thought I'd play along. Now, I've got to go find out where I went wrong. :D

Advanced
You scored 100% Beginner, 93% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 72% Expert!
