OK... for all you who don't make the "train" the ACURA parking paddock is the FIRST one on the LEFT as you enter the track. Bring sunblock and a warm jacket too  we will have GREAT WEATHER for this event. See you there
PS Please don't speed in Sebring, ALL the cops in highlands county + many more from the surrounding counties will be out in full force to catch all the "race car drivers' going to the tract.

Wow! What an event.

We had 31 NSXs show up. All the Acura chiefs were there including ALMS CEO Scott Atherton who spoke to our gathering at 1130am. Todd Talbert and Jason Blair won the raffle to be honorary Acura team members and go in the hot pits during the race.

As you all probably already know, the LMP2 Acura teams of Andretti Green Racing and Fernandez racing finished 1st and 2nd in class and 2nd and 3rd OVERALL finishing ahead of everyone except the winning LMP1 Audi R10 team. It was an amazing debut for Acura.

Thanks to my friends Larry Hayes (IMSA), Brian Butts (Acura VP) for all their help in putting this together. Also a pleasure to meet and talk to TE McHale, Kurt Antonius, and John Mendel from AHM!

Don't know about the rest of you, but Lynn and I went to bed at 630pm (fell asleep trying to watch the race) and woke up the next MORNING!!

Great to see everyone. I'll post photos at www.nsxflorida.com this evening.

It was certainly a pleasure meeting all of you and seeing some long-time friends. I trust all attendees had an enjoyable time and that their expectations were exceeded!

Although I will not be attending the upcoming St. Pete IRL/ALMS event, I sincerely hope many of you will come out and support!

Thanks again to Koji and the two other gentlemen (my apologies for forgetting your names) for letting my two co-workers and me ride "shot-gun" on the parade lap. They absolutely had a blast...and I'm now looking into shipping my car to FL for a couple of track days!

Thanks again for the on-going passion and continued camaraderie among the NSX community. With short notice, you came out in force and we're truly appreciative of that!

Gratefully,

Brian Butts

I flew in from NY to attend and I can honestly say that my expectations, as high as they were to begin with, were exceeded by the hospitality and the organization of the event. Add to that the phenomenal showing of the Acura lineup in the race and it will be tough to top this event.

I am looking forward to attending the Lime Rock event in July and know that by then our Northeast contingent will be over their jealousy of me avoiding a snow and ice storm in NY and will rally together to attend and support our Acura teams.

I flew in from Michigan, and feel the same way.

It was an absolutely fantastic time, and I really enjoyed meeting the local NSXers. Thanks to Wei Shin, the Florida NSXers and the Acura Motorsport program for putting this together.

What an incredible event and race! At this point, I think Acura has a few race teams re-drawing their strategy and hopefully making Audi look over their shoulder!

With NO sleep the night before, MJK and I made it until 9P at the race and then didn't get to sleep until after midnight back in Orlando. (Minus that impromptu nap in the hospitality tent  )

Thanks to Acura and especially to Wei-Shen for coordinating all of this! Right now, MJK is trying to talk me into going to the later ALMS event at Mid-Ohio.

Hmmm......

Todd... or anyone else who recorded the race... how did the parade lap footage turn out? Did we make Speed? Anyone post video footage of the parade laps?

The parade laps did not make it on the Speed coverage. There were some cars with video cameras in them so hopefully someone will post a link. I only took stills.

Remember the young lady dressed in black blouse with the SPEED logo, and the camera man with her, walking around our corral?

They took a few minutes' worth of shots of our cars and it was edited into a very short piece about the "cars that the fans bring". There were short (like half-second or one-second) shots of parts of our cars in the corral, along with some other marques (e.g. Vettes), but it was a very, very short piece.

I recognized a shot of Wei-Shen's Techno wheels. I don't think my car (unremarkable as it is) made the edit.

I did see that "blip" of coverage 3/4 of the way into the race. It was a very short piece on the car corrals in general but at least there was the shot of our cars and I believe the son of one of our members was the child in the tape shown dancing next to one of the NSXs.

I didn't see the NSX parade laps either. I video'd a couple short segs. of the laps and will try to post them and pics tonight. I saw myself in the pits for about 1 second on Speed Channel.

This was definitely an awesome experience!! The day started very early, but was well worth it for such an event. Both Jason & I were lucky to win a trip to the hot pits in Acura fire suits. It was amazing to see up close how prepared and smoothly these teams work together. Of course, Acura coming in 1st, 2nd & 4th made it even more special.
Here are some pics. & videos.
