The clicking is your abs pump running. The round thing is the accumulator I think. Make sure your ABS res. cap is on tight. If it is, you might have a leak as the ABS pump should only run occasionally to build up pressure in the system.

Do a search on "ABS bleeder tool" and you'll find out how to cure this problem by beeding the ABS system. It's fairly easy to do if you're familiar with bleeding brakes. If not, take it to a dealer and have them flush the ABS system. Happy Motoring!

Gotta love new owners. So much energy and so many questions.

Reminds me of my 13 yr old newphew. Always asking me question that he could search himself.

No worries though, we have all been new owners once and sometimes the right search keywords are non trival.

It took me about 3 months on this site and reading through past threads until I felt that I had enough "common knowldege" about this car.

it's true there's plenty to learn, and 3 months is a realistic study period, but we don't mind helping newbies to quick answers either

yes its your ABS pump. If it runs for a few seconds every so often, that's normal. When it starts to get longer before it stops pumping then your system is loosing pressure somewhere internally and the pump has to work more. Could be the accumulator (that's the ball, which is a reservoir of fluid pressurised against a flexible membrane at the "equator" of the ball) or a number of other things. Unless it's leaking a lot of fluid it's not dangerous, your brakes will keep working OK, but extended clicking is not good. Eventually the ABS warning lamp will come on in your gauge cluster and it will click all the time. Then u have to fix it, or do your pump in.

But as suggested, go read the FAQ and Wiki on ABS

If you want to save yourself some time you can do a search on some of my threads/answers and I think that you will get a pretty good idea of what you need to do. If you have any questions let me know.

Do read Brads, (OLDMNSX) guide to brake sorting. He has done great reasearch and problem solving.
Before you go nuts and spend bags of money go find a wet or sandy road and as conditions allow get enough speed up to allow you to lock up the brakes until you feel it in your foot. Mind you'll have to slam on the brakes hard and fast to get the ABS to function. You must do it fast and hard enough to feel it in your foot on the brake pedal. This will allow the check valves to activate and this should stop the pump from leaking down.
You WILL still need to change and flush the system but this might help for awhile.

Cheers

Well guys,,, I checked the Fluid,, it was real low,, filled it back to the MAX line and no more sounds,, hope that was the problem,, but where is it losing pressure is my question will get back to it tomorrow

It's still a good idea to excerise your ABS once in a while. Find a place where you can stomp on the brakes to activate the ABS.

Better yet, borrow Drews ABS tool and flush out the old ABS brake fluid.

This should help with the pump activating all the time. If not, then you probably have bigger problems.
