ok....
Thanks to dano's web page and my service manual I determined that the pump does run if connected to power....and I cycled each solenoid while I was at it. I'll report back on Thursday morning when I drive it in to work, no time tonight.

UPDATE!
All seems well now after I ran the pump and cycled the solenoids. I stomped on the brakes 3-4 times to the point of skidding and the pump worked and everything seems fine.
Thank you guys for all the help and offers of help. It's nice to know there are other enthusiasts out there who will assist a new owner. Makes me feel even better about buying a 14 year old car.
