A note I found on my car.

I found this under my wiper as I left the gym.
If you can't read it, the note says: "your car is very nice- you should take two spots away from other cars- think about it!" Written on "Ralph Lauren Blue" smell cologne paper.
I think it's a nice, but sarcastic way of saying, "don't use your nsx as an excuse to take up two spots."
What do you guys think?
I was parked fairly far away too!

Do not take up two spots... this just makes people angry and they are liable to throw eggs at your car... ask me how I know..

I consider it to be inconsiderate, rude, and arrogant to take up two spots. Better to park the last space out and walk, or try to pick a space next to two nice 4 door cars.

You are lucky that the note is all the person left you.

Wow! I was just trying to avoid door dings.
FYI, I was in the last (furthest away)(2) spaces.
4 door means kids, which means door dings IMO.
I consider myself blessed that the note is all the person left me ;) .

Would any one here be mad if you saw an NSX roll up into a handicapt spot, assuming he had the proper decal displayed?

Umm.. why would anyone be mad if he had the proper decal?

I feel that most NSX owners have the integrity not to falsely display handicap decals if that is what you are implying.

Also, parking in 2 spaces is like raising a flag asking someone to key your car.

there are enough people that do bad things cause they get jealous if you have nice things. taking two spots just kinda pisses off the people on the edge. i understand you really care about your car and everything, but if your THAT worried get a beater to drive to place you have to park. :p

I don't think I'll be taking up 2 spaces anymore.
Like you said, MIKEC, it's rude and if you think it's rude, many other people probably do too.
I also don't think it would be very nice to come out to see key marks or eggs on my car.

Thanks, everyone for your input.. good info! :)

Dude. I know how you feel. I"m not putting you down at all, in fact you sound like a great guy and appreciative NSX owner.

I struggle myself with keeping my car in the best possible condition. Search the site for parking tips. There are some useful suggestings for keeping your car nicer, not the least of which is to hang back and not follow close to minimize stone chips.

Whatever you do, you don't want to raise a red flag and draw attention to yourself. There are good ppl and bad that are jealous, or just like to cause trouble. If your lucky you can avoid them, but don't call them to you.

Take care and enjoy the ride.

Best regards

I completely agree with Mikec. Consider yourself extremely lucky nothing else happened and that you were warned by either a woman, or a member of the fab five with that perfume paper. :) There is no reason anyone should take up two spots ever no matter what the reason is. Like someone said earlier, just park in the last spot and walk a mile if you are that worried.

Park in a normal spot with your passenger side next to an island or the end of the row. Park as close as possible to the passenger side of the slot. Take care not to scratch your rims on the curb, of course.

The reason to park that way is that any car that parks on your driver's side is A) Probably going to park in the middle of its slot without running into you, B) Have lots of room to open the passenger door, and C) Quite likely won't even open a door in your direction because a driver is required whereas a passenger is not.

Remember, the NSX is actually quite narrow (except for you widebodies out there) and can leave a great deal of room if parked right on one edge of a slot. If you're lucky and the spot has no curb on the side, you can park right on the line and leave several feet on the other side.

And I say don't park 10 miles away from the entrance unless you have no choice. You think it's safer, but when you see half a dozen skaters coasting across the open lot to your car, doing tricks on and over the curbs and concrete stoppers, you'll think otherwise. I'd much rather park in front of Starbuck's than in the back of the lot. Maybe not Chuckie Cheese, though. :)

And for god's sake, if you're gonna take up TWO spots, use your damned Hummer so people will hate people who drive Hummers instead of NSXes.

Well, it does seem to annoy people, I have my legit handicapt decal, and I get "the stare" when people walk past me as I'm parking.

I guess people could assume its a stolen decal, but when a guy with crutches gets out, they still don't look very happy about it.

After my aneurysm, when I was able to drive again, I occasionally drove the NSX with my Handicapped placard displayed. I knew that it may have looked odd, until you saw me hobbling along with my cane.

people don't expect handicapped people to excel in life. its jsut the sad truth. I am also guilty for this.

I saw a NICE camero SS parked outside my gym and and immedately assumed it was parked illegaly. the driver is infact a BUFF man who is a paralysised from the waist down. I felt really bad, but I think its how most peopel think.

:(

I usually turn a skeptical eye on the sportscar in the handicapped spot, but only because most people who are handicapped are handicapped in a way that would make getting out of a car like an NSX rather difficult. And let's face it, there are sportscar owners who have given the group a bad reputation when it comes to ethics and consideration. :)

However, if they have the plate or placard, I shrug and move on. You can't always see what's wrong with someone that they need to keep their walking to short distances. Shortness of breath, weak heart, etc. No reason not to drive a snazzy car, though.

Heck, if anything, it's a good reason. ;)

How can he drive if he was paralyzed from the waist down?

My uncle is paraplegic and he has been driving for probably 10 years. Custom hand controls is very common for paralyzed individuals.
