A Ford GT bites the dust!

I would like to see the results of a test where new model cars were released with no badges and no markings for anyone to tell what kind of car it is. The GT is a great car. Too many people are stuck in the designer label trap that has been set up to empty wallets with products that really are not all they are hyped up to be.

The Ford GT looks spectacular - but it's a 15 foot car. It only looks good from 15 feet away. Up close, its body panel gaps are wider than a Saturn's. The hand painter doesn't bother to continue the $6,000 stripe over the rear spoiler lip. The subwoofer grille protruding between the seats is just plain goofy. Not the sort of finesse expected in a $150K halo car, regardless of badge. A Bentley Continental GT, while a different type of ride altogether, totally outclasses the Ford GT in terms of execution for about the same price.

This is a sad but telling perspective on the car: Jeremy Clarkson's Ford GT.

I have not seen a Ford GT in person so I really can not comment on the Ford GT. From what I have seen and read it looks like a great car for the money. However it is funny you bring up the Bentley because that is the exact car I was thinking about when I posted my statement. The Bentley is a great car, fabulous car to say the least, but the VW Phaeton is just as good for 1/2 the money. The problem is most people can not get over the fact it has a VW badge, even though most of the parts are Bentley. The Phaeton is built in the same factory as the Bentley, side by side. Most people are happy to pay 200k for the Bentley but gasp at paying 100k for the Phaeton.
Like someone over at the VW forums said.."The Phaeton was an IQ test for the luxury car buyers of America, and those buyers failed the test." It is not about buying the best car, rather it is about buying the car with the best badge on the hood.
Same goes for the NSX it is a better car but it does not have the prancing horse on the hood so low sales numbers will apply.
