92 street/track 02+ conv, NA2 type r, Have questions

Hi, an interesting and almost scary build! Great scoop on the seats btw.

Ref the wrap, first Q, is your NSX all OEM paint? If not then the wrap should only be a short term option and be sure to have the company insure against any paint issues when they remove it. Mine was wrapped white/black for almost 3 yrs. all OEM paint was find but after market parts and repainted bumper had issues.

Red calipers? Yes if you're going bbk but not on OEM calipers. Besides, given the hp and other build elements then surely you deserve some Stoptech's or WP's ....

Back to the wrap, a recent news color here is the satin dark grey, looks like the limited edition BMW or AMG's .... With an 02 conversion this would like really good.

Final thoughts are the headlamps .... There is an owner on Prime with a LBBP that has painted and iirc they are in the style Dave describes .... I'll post if I can find the photo I have .... The owner has it as his avatar

Regards, Paul

He already posted he has stoptechs. And he is going higher end. Where did you get paint on oem calipers from?

Oh no... that is not what I am describing at all. It's almost the opposite.

Here you go, pics of an 02+ front end conversion with headlights blacked out:

Assuming you plan to track the car since you are aiming for an excessive amount of power for the streets, why wouldn't you start tracking the car right now? It's already fast with the CTSC, and you are going to open up the engine anyways. Learning on a 600+ hp turbo NSX with no prior experience is dangerous.

vmike that looks great. Do you have any close up pics of the housings?

pvmike thanks for the pictures that looks awesome!

Some build updates.

Motor reassembly starts next week, expect some pictures!

Transmission, I have came to the conclusion that with the amount of power the 5 speed transmission is better suited for my build. Thanks you Chris from S.O.S. and Dave (Turbo2go) for helping me realize this even though I fought all the way. It will get a full rebuild, blueprinted, OS Giken LSD, and the factory gears are going to get cryro'ed for extra strength.

On another note... My whole braking system is going to be changed... again...
1st. I am going to be upgrading my abs modulator to the NSX-R modulator over the current 99+ usdm spec one I upgraded to this summer.
2nd. With out giving to much away as I am going to let someone else make the announcement... My stop tech brakes will be removed in favor of something... lighter...

Hope everyone on prime has a great Thanksgiving!

Shay

LOL... Shay just say it, no big deal. I did a 2 person group buy on this. I will have to prostitute myself on the street corner soon to keep up with this guy's build. He is the worst influence... like I needed help spending more on an NSX...

The baller alarm that has been ringing just broke! Carbon ceramics cost more than $20k?? Haha between you two in the northeast you have now put NSX spending off the charts. I haven't seen the likes of this extravagance since Anil's build and I for one am glad to see you guys think this platform is worth it. Plus, I am also glad to see an all out build that will deviate from the factory mission. That gets old to see even though I like the clean oem style but with a little more flair. I would stay away from body colored headlights though... The way that strip is on the side just makes it impossible to flow aesthetically. JMHO. Now if you had the cf gt-one headlights I bet that would look wicked on black because they eliminate that annoying side strip! But their quality wasn't up to par from what I hear.

Yes, new Hyundai pricing on those. 3 sets of track pads cost about as much as a stoptech kit too. And as if that's not enough he is trying to get me involved with this. Imagine the reduction in unsprung weight with these and those rotors.

Oh come on Dave wasn't it you that I was calling a bad influence getting me to buy the brakes? lol but yeah I am pushing for the carbon wheels now because the combination of these two what it will do for the car, I really can't imagine.

Thanks Nero, I probably should of built a house instead of this car but that's what happens when your gf you plan on marrying peaces you out. This build has gotten completely out of control, but I believe the fundamental platform of the na1 is amazing, you update it with some of the new tech from the best super cars and give it some massive power like they have not only will the car be able to keep up. It should be able to embarrass cars that cost a lot more than this build will cost. Will just need to get my driving skills up to snuff to do it.
And I need those carbon wheels. ;)

Nice Dave you and your Japanese wife are having quadruplets ......

Probably would of been a better way to spend the money. lol
Now the race is on to who will get them put on and drive to be the first nsx. Dave has the advantage being my engines disassembled.

Figured today would be a great time to thank everyone who has helped me out with this project of mine.

First I want to thank Dave (Turbo2Go) for his input into my build, steering me in the right direction with it, and his help with securing some of the best/one of a kind/new nsx parts.
Second I would like to thank Chris and everyone over at Science of Speed, you do not understand how often I am bugging them/changing my mind/adding something else on to the build.
Connect Car Audio
Ross from S.T.M.P.O. thanks for taking the time to talk to me about my build and your advice and the parts you helped me get as well.
Cody from LoveFab again thanks for helping me securing some parts as well.
Some of the other vendors I would like to thank:
S.C.W. Performance
A.S. Motorsports
Crafty Plugs
Acura of Agusta
Delray Acura
Sunnyside Acura
Dali-Racing
ProCar
Carbon 6
TFEnt

And NSXPrime users that also have my thanks:
Phryxis
Scorp965
AdvansCPAP
Angus
NA1/2-R GT
Caroline-NSX
HugaBuga

And everyone else on NSXPrime!

With out you all this build wouldn't be possible, this as always been my dream to build an NSX like this since I first got to ride in a 95 NSX-T when it was new when I was 9. This past year as had a lot of changes happen in my life that were really difficult, well I do not post a lot I am constantly here reading all I can about what is happening in the NSX world here on prime and it honestly as lame as it sounds helped me get through some hard times.

Thank you everyone!
Hope you all have a happy and safe thanksgiving for the USA members of prime!
And everyone from other parts of the world, hope you have a great day as well!

Shay

You don't want to make this car too light either with the amount of power you're going to have.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone makes them or not but aluminum widebody fenders would be great so that you can fit wider tires all around on the car. I'm not a fan of fiberglass so that's why I suggested the aluminum

No one makes aluminum fenders. That would be a dream. Also there are no issues with having the car as light as possible. Always easier to control, higher performance, and just as safe so long as you aren't taking away safety gear. In general weight is never helpful unless you are driving through the snow or building muscles. :D

Sorry, I should have made my comment more of a quesiton... My main thought was keeping the car on the ground at high speeds > 170mph. I didn't see any downforce related mods listed, wouldn't that be an issue with a car this fast? Usually people that build high horsepower cars want to go fast on the top end. Think Texas mile.

I have debated about doing modifications for downforce, I scored a brand new taitec gt500 wing for track days, the car will be as low as possible and have the whole under neither paneled off, and have considered doing something more for downforce. ( I would love to go to the texas mile one day by the way) But I think really the issue with the top speed is gearing, since no one makes taller gears for the NSX. Which this is one of the reasons I decided to stick with the 5 speed vs the 6 speed I do not need closer ratio, shorter gears, I actually would benefit from taller ones, but have custom gears made is way beyond my budget for the car. Not that I am not horribly over my budget I set for myself to begin with...

I struggle with trying to keep the car looking some what factory, as most as a sleeper, as much as an NSX can be I guess. I want to update it and keep it some what modern looking with out making it look full on race car with big wing, canards, and splitters.

An 02+ NSX is very aerodynamic and if you have the full underbelly done with the R hood and duct and R wing and it's sitting lower, with the suspension he has it will be very stable at speed. But I think you have to reserve the fact that this is a very capable car, but not really a race car. I'd be hesitant to do a Texas mile without a cage, if something fails you will die at that speed. It's no joke to crash at 150+ MPH. It's almost guaranteed death without proper safety gear. The car should also be very capable on the track but it requires a seasoned driver. We are having a discussion right now regarding the spring rates because the mission of the car seems hazy.
