I am wondering why Porsche seems to be quoting the total system torque at 944 lb-ft which is basically adding the maximum torque from the 2 electric motors to the maximum torque from the ICE while Honda doesn't take that approach. If Honda did, they would report total torque at 623 lb-ft. instead of 476 lb-ft for the NSX

Does anybody have any insight as to whether there is an engineering/power train design-based reason for this reporting discrepancy between the 918 Spyder and the NSX?

Honda, like some other manufacturers are conservative with their metrics, which is why many cars including the first gen NSX will usually dyno a bit more than expected. Many European supercar quote a quarter filled/lightly topped car as the curb weight instead of a vehicle with full fluids including gasoline. So I could see them quoting the sum of peak torque even if those numbers are inaccurate.
