2007 Mustang GT Vs. 1991 NSX

Make sure you cheat and put race gas in your car.

Never trust a mustang owner.

+1! yea no doubt he could be running the juice... u never know

You have inadvertently chosen to race my other favorite car. I am going go be the contrarian (as usual) and predict, on an NSX website no less, that he takes you. We won't be taking your word on it this time - take video.

a stock mustang GT will never hit 168 mph stock like our cars can. they'll have a hard time doing 155mph.

This is a nonissue. They are only racing to 125.

Loser has to put a note on their rear window that says "I got smoked by a Ford" or "I got smoked by a Honda", depending on who wins.

Great idea!

He just got his mustang, and has never owned a car with any power before. This makes me more confident, due to the fact that he has no comparison to other cars he’s owned. He just thinks his car is fast simply because he just got it 2 months ago and is not used to the power yet.

These responses are hilarious. I’ll do my best to get a video.

Sorry, a MUSTANG? .. even GT against a S2k will be a drivers race .. if you are on the nsx you should be able to walk ... unless he has some mods .... still you shouldn't even bother ... if you accepted his challenge, now you better come victorious ,,.

I'd be more concerned about him losing control and taking the both of you out during the run.

A STRAIGHT LINE race is not one you want to entertain with a car that has twice the displacement as you.

Be careful dude, we might spun ... make him sign a waver or something that is not your fault if he spun ... if he has the arrogance to challenge a NSX that means he has no real knowledge/experience with cars ... be careful ..

HA HA HA HA

Try taking that into your insurance company. Honestly, Sir, it was not my fault when he hit me racing at 120mph!

I would like to witness this, as I'm local.

Thanks. That's exactly why I put in my original post that we wouldn't be racing too closely next to one another. The last thing I need is him getting excited and spinning into me. I 've seen way too much of that at the 1/4 mile and on youtube (which is the video forum for idiots )

Yeah- I'm still trying to nail down a venue. I'd ask him and his Mustang buddies, but they'd probably just want to do it on the street....which is NOT going to happen.

Maybe we should just go to the drag strip and do a few runs. Is Joliet the closest one to Chicago?

We tossed around a few ideas, but came to the conclusion that we would do straight a 40mph-125mph run. -side.
Predictions?
Why even bother, just do it on a computer simulation or something. If its not from a standing start, its not a race...

The sad part is if you were stock class autocrossing, the NSX would lose.

He's not sprayed or anything. His car has about 15k miles on it. I'm not sure how new his tires are, but he keeps talking about how he's been roasting them non-stop. I'll check his tread before we race. There is a good chance his tires aren't as sticky as he thinks they are.

You cannot possibly lose ths race. The Mustang isn't putting down more than 240 to the wheels assuming a reasonable drivetrain loss of 20% and the car weighs over 3,500 pounds.
FWIW, my brothers 2006 Mustang pulled 290rwhp with a tuner, UD pulley and a CAI....
Also, this isnt a Supra or anything, S197 Mustangs have very good rear traction even with stock suspension.

From a standing start this is going to be a pretty good race, with the odds in the NSX's favor though.

You had a Prius in your closed race course?

Did I say I was in a closed race course?

When that happened with the Prius, my attention focused from beating the Mustang to driving behind the Prius with both of my HID high beam and HID PIAA driving light on.

That prius was lite up inside the cabin. I was on the driver side mirror. It tried to accelerate from me to get away.

Sorry, but a Prius is like a single prop plane versus a F16..... ur not going to get away.

That continued for 5 miles.

the mustang guy wanted to give the Prius some words too by getting on the passenger side mirrors with the high beam.

People that drive hybrids from my experience are not very mindful of the diverse speeds. they spend more time looking at the gauges and monitoring the MPG while they drift into a fast lane.

Route 66 has test and tune generally on Tuesdays. See here.

people rarely race at those speeds for the following reasons:

1. in this case the race will be very close (I'm talking from experience while most of the people on this thread haven't raced this year/model Mustang), but the NSX should win before hitting those speeds

2. one of the 2 cars will shut down well before those speeds since testis size will determine the outcome

3. public roads are usually not maintained well and all it takes is a single pothole, bump, etc. to make the testis shrink

From a standing start this is going to be a pretty good race, with the odds in the NSX's favor though.

I have to disagree. I think the Mustang has a CLEAR advantage in a straight line race. Unless, that is, he needs to stop!

Oh well... I did try to help you out but...

Guess my sarcasm went unnoticed. You're on your own now.

something tells me this thread will have 30 pages and will be locked ..

Update: He just sent me an email stating that once he puts headers alone on, his car will go 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. As I'm laughing and throwing up in my mouth at the same time, I can't help but think what a bad driver he probably is. I should either increase the wager severely, or back out because he certainly doesn't know what he's doing. I don't need him to spin out that pig and run into me, even if we are far away.

Then he started up with all the "poor man's Ferrari" crap and all the other hater verbiage that goes along with it..

wow... I am going to get me some headers now....

SC and Headers wouldnt give him 3.9 . Tell him to watch PASS TIME on speed and see how Mustangs with 400 hp hit 13.50 ....LOL...

He would do better if he had a true LX 5.0 from 1996

Just out of PURE curiosity, and nothing against you or any other "younger" members on this board, but can I ask how old you are?

Define 'younger' I'm 33. The guy that I'm racing is 34.

If I was 23, we'd probably be doing this on the public streets like fools.

Just remember that this is just playground, water cooler, 'my Dad can beat up your Dad' type stuff at this point.

It's just funny to share the war of words.. Nothing matters until we get to the track.
