-Redesigned shifter knob
-Redesigned instrument panel surround

Finally standard are the Trunk-mounted 6-Disc CD changer and the Keyless entry system.

 Wow... that's like a total overhaul!!!
i bet heaps of owners are going to upgrade over those changes.

thanx POWERED by HONDA for posting... amazing that it's going to be the NSX's 14th birthday... almost sweet 16... ;)

Why do they even bother. Stupid things like this just piss me off.

"Well, I was going to get a ferrari 360, but then i saw the new shift knob in the 2004 NSX and I was sold!"..

Why does this anger you??? You expected something different? For a while now, we've all known there would only be minimal changes for the 04 year... similar to the minor changes between past model years.

From previous polls, one of the few gripes about the NSX (other than HP) was that keyless entry and CD was optional. At least we don't have to worry about that for '04.

It makes me mad because it is such a small effort that is really meaningless.

It is a joke that in a 90K sportscar, the keyless entry or cd changer is not standard equipment. Considering the deals most people get on a new NSX, I don't even think this is an issue.

If they want to make small changes that actually might be useful to everyone, why not make an in-dash CD changer... wow.. what a concept. How about replacing that ancient radio anetenna with something a little more modern. How about adding some quality brembo's. If a 30K 350Z can have them, why can't we?

I would love to actually have a conversation with the person that heads up the NSX changes. They obviously are clueless as to what is going on with other cars in 2004.

And I have heard that next year, Honda will tackle and introduce a new glove box door and a redesigned console lid.

They might as well throw in a redesigned cup holder while they're at it. Maybe one that's actually useful while driving perhaps.

Brembos would be nice. The 350Z was a good retort and then add in the fact that the new TL will have them (either as optional or standard) as OE.

Did I mention a 3.5 stroker motor?;)

But as another has stated, I can't afford a new one anyway. Funny, I can't afford a new one BUT I can afford to mod the hell out of the one I have. Hmph.

<== not as smart as he thinks.

Just curious, but what is the big deal about brembos? My NSX stops as quick as any of the sports cars on the road. I can't imagine it needing to stop any quicker. I'll admit that the brembos look nice, but do they really help in braking performance?

Re: Brembos...

It's interesting that Acura is offering optional Brembos on the new TL.

One would think that it wouldn't have been a big engineering effort to make them standard fare on their flagship vehicle.

Changes - improvements - are always nice. However, car manufacturers generally roll out major improvements as part of a newly designed model. If you're angry because the 2004 NSX is not going to be a newly designed model, well... that's something we've known for a while. I don't understand why you're getting angry about that now, just because you heard that they're continuing the NSX and making some features standard that were formerly options.

I kind of want to see what the redesigned instrument cluster surround will look like. Depending on how it actually looks, I would consider buying it to give my interior a slightly different look over how it is now. It is just something to be different from the rest:)

Ken,

I am simply angry because yet another year goes by and they do meaningless upgrades. As mentioned above, there are a lot of little things they could do to make the car a lot more on par with 2004 cars.
I know I am not the only one who feels that way.

BTW, the new motor trend says there are no changes period for the 2004 NSX.

A Navpod (as standard equipment) would be nice, as would an in-dash MP3 changer. It's definitely time for the tape deck to go..

I've never had a problem with the (stock) shift knob though.

It will be okay, young grasshopper

Well of course you're not! Obviously! :D

But, why would you be angry now when an announcement is made that more-or-less confirms much what you've already known.

Concerning the "meaningless upgrades," You previously stated "It is a joke that in a 90K sportscar, the keyless entry or cd changer is not standard equipment." That's fine, so it's been a joke for 12 years. Why are you angry now that Honda has addressed this deficiency?

I'm guessing the costs of the other improvements you mentioned are hard to justify when so few NSXs are sold. New shift knob and trim pieces don't cost much... Just like the perforated leather in 2000 (which many owners really love).

I'm truly not trying to pick on you: I just don't like to see my fellow NSX buddies getting all angry for no reason. End your suffering... Just accept what you already know: There won't be any significant changes for our NSX. :D

EDIT: adjusted tone

I'd rather that they spend the retooling investment on the new model than continue to invest in minor changes to the current one.

I still believe that the fact they continue to sell it means that either a new one is coming, or no decision has been finalized. They wouldn't continue to sell it if they planned to cancel it.

That's true! And why not also integrating some multiple memory seat settings like some other Acuras...there could be more electronics in this car...

Me too! I only hope that Honda won't throw aways what is actually a superb car.

We all know that this car is almost perfect beside some hp and perf numbers improvements...

Bring back the coupe!

Floor and trunk mats should be standard. Some nice aluminum pedals like in the S2000 would be nice, and so would a starter button. 18 inch wheels seem to be the norm in this price range. While I understand why someone may not want a NAV system in a sports car, they could offer it as an option.

My vote is in the angry camp…Well, maybe just annoyed.

I was expecting nothing, and we get something so inconsequential. It’s like being a waiter and getting a penny for a tip. Getting nothing would probably be better. I think it’s also the confirmation that Honda’s 2004 commitment to its flagship vehicle was probably the effort of one engineer for one month.

I read somewhere that the irony of the exotic cars is that since the volume is so low, they may go 10 years without a major change, while the much, much, less expensive (but higher volume cars) get all the latest technology every year. I guess the NSX is a classic example of that.
