Your dream NSX Build

"Realistic budget" and "dream NSX" cannot be uttered in the same breath, if you ask me

I'd be happy with a duplicate os SOS's white shop car. Amazing example of what can be done without looking Frankenstein-ish

J

Is there a photo of this around? The only SoS car Ive seen was that full JGTC looking one.

I just calculated that the mods I want would cost somewhere around 77k. That is realistic for me but it's gonna take a few years to save up for it =)

1. Supercharged 3,5 L engine (~ 630 hk at crank)
2. 6-speeder with OS Giken LSD
3. BBK's and selected handling upgrades + air ride system
4. New paint for body and wheels
5. New interior

Donations are welcome =)

3.6L w/ ITBs, should get just over 400hp

NA1
NSX-R suspension
NSX-R aero
NSX-R final drive
OS Giken LSD
6 speed
NA2 conversion
NA2 brakes
as much weight reduction as possible while still keeping carpet and such
lightest clutch setup I could find (I think Exedy has one that is 14lbs)
That's pretty much it, K.I.S.S.

The only car I can really see myself getting after an NSX is a Porsche GT3RS, but then I have to remind myself that I could build this NSX for way less than a GT3 would cost, and it would be just as fast, if not faster.

Perhaps my idea will seem strange.
Take a red ’91, and leave it stock, right down to the OEM wheels and exhaust tips. BUT... inside, a SOS build cranking out at least 500HP.
It might be difficult to get there. An intercooler makes the engine so tall that you’d have to fab up an engine cover with a hump to accommodate it. The original exhaust would have to go, so the tips would have to be attached to the replacement. The smaller pipe diameter in the tips would mean, probably, having to fabricate hidden exhaust tips to allow proper flow.
Result: original looks, enhanced performance. Plus, the potential to whip anyone who might try to kick sand in a “stock” car’s face.

If you could build your dream NSX what mods would you have? Assuming a realistic budget because, let's be real... if you had $1M you'd be buying Veyron. lol

I'll start with my list... (though this seems to change as often as Oprah's weight)

1. OBDI Coupe
2. 3.8L Engine Build
3. ITBs
4. 6 spd USDM
5. <strike>KW V3</strike> Tsuchiya DG-5 Coilovers
6. Custom Ti Exhaust of my own design
7. Route KS Madonna WB 02+ conversion
8. Brembo lotus bbk

Other not so realistic goals...
1. Import a 2002 Type R but convert it to LH drive
2. Send it thru the NSX Tochigi refresh program
..
..
.
p.s. It's a slow day at work...

Small correction on suspension. We're allowed to change our minds right? :)

I am happy with mine, but If I could have a wish with no money object:

*Thinks I will do in 2012:

• BBK = A must
• GM Advan RS's = A must
• Type-R style 91-01 hood = A must
• Type-R chassis reinforcements = A Must

*Thinks I wish I could do but am OK without it:
• Full Type-R interior = Super Expensive and Impossible
• Supercharge it.

The rest I am more than happy with the way mine is.

1. Coilovers of any sort "probably never happening"
2. Ravi's air ride system "also probably never happening"
3. A widebody kit "never happening unless I find money in my backyard"
4. A slim bbk that will fit behind my Advan Kreuzer V's since both offsets are 45 front 45 rear...

Unless I switch careers or hit the lottery I can't spend anymore money on my car. And neither is happening, haha.

mugen and more mugen:smile:

Hmm.... Ideally,..

1. Coupe
2. Turbo / Supercharged
3. Properly built engine
4. 500 - 600 whp
5. 6-speed
6. Custom body pieces with subtle styling
7. Custom paint job
8. Nice set of 18/19 (preferably relatively rare)
9. BBK
10. Good sound system for those long drives

just how rare do the wheels have to be???:biggrin::biggrin:

Relatively.

I'm thinking Japanese, twin 5-spoke, and bronze.

WOW!!!! the wheels you just described above are more than relatively rare, the are discontinued rare.

I'm guessing they are the Advans AVS Model 5's.

Congrats on the perfect choice of wheel for the NSX :biggrin::biggrin: and you selected the perfect color for your black NSX "BRONZE" how  is that ?:wink::eek:

Make sure you read to the end...

My 91 black over red NSX currently has the following installled:

Advan Gold RS 17x8; 18x10 wheels
Cantrell Concepts CF engine bay cover with mesh
Aluminum shock tower brace (on car when I bought it, manufacturer unknown)
Downforce air intake scoop and air intake system
DC Sports headers
SoS Endura Lite exhaust
SoS red powdercoated valve covers and intake manifold w/SoS logo plate
SoS Stage II stereo (no longer offered, 600w with the separate door tweeters)
SoS fuel pressure gauge (should be shipped this week)
SoS big bore throttle body (should be shipped this week)

To which I would add:

Downforce NSX-R hood with under hood duct, painted red except for interior of scoop which would be clear coat CF
Downforce NSX-R style rear spoiler w/3rd brake light, clear coat CF (without NSX-R badges)
All appropriate NSX-R/clone underbody parts to reduce turbulance, to include Downforce rear diffuser
Downforce NSX-R style "Recaro" CF seats
NSX-R chassis reinforcement bars
Brembo big brake kit with the upgraded, lightweight calipers and slotted rotors
KW V3s with optional SoS monoball top mounts (maybe KW club sports as an option)
SoS custom 3.8L engine build, normally aspirated, with a goal of 400+ rwhp (might need ITBs), and any other bits to help with reliability (i.e. baffle oil pan, upgraded fittings, oil cooler, etc.)
SoS competition clutch that was still "streetable"
6 speed transmission with custom gears matched to the engine that SoS built
AEM OBD1 engine management system with custom maps from SoS
SoS Koyo aluminum radiator
Any other bits to lighten the car (probably minor CF bodywork parts like side vents, B pillars, etc.)

Both myself and the car would relocate to Tempe AZ, where, working with SoS (as my primary sponsor) we would test and refine the car to the best of our ability. In 2012, I would enter the Cannonball Run taking place in Austrailia, with SoS's best mechanic taking a leave of absence to ride with me. We would then proceed to smoke the rest of the field with a 20+ year old car that stayed together the entire time and did enough events well enough to take the overall prize. The resulting publicity would then force Honda to continue development on what was to be the NSX replacement, finally releasing it in 2015.

My dream build would be a mint low mile 2005 and a coupe 1991-92 no pass airbag.

then I would strip both down to the chassis, have the coupe repainted, paint all the parts the factory did not paint. and completely swap the 2005 into the coupe chassis. except the bubble lights

then put the coupe guts back into the 2005 chassis and sell it off to someone that needs an NSX more than me.

I am actually going to do this one day so its not really a dream

2005 Imola Orange/Onyx
convert to coupe by way of serialNSXer
full DF-R conversion
led rear tail lights
Type R chassis reinforcement
JRZ coilovers
adjustable sways
StopTech in gold
LoveFab @ 400+whp
carbon fiber double din + door switch plates
nav
Honda nav hood with screen
updated speakers
interior restitched in Imola Orange
badass wheels (can't ever decide)
NSX-R titanium shift knob

call it a day.

Seems to be a number of 3.8 aims here. I just noticed SOS don't have that on their website anymore. Wonder who else does them. SOS right now presntly offers 3.5

What I want or dream:
Reworked engine pushing 400hp
6speed
Chassis upgrades - TypeR
NA2 ABS upgrades + BBK

... It's what most primer already have  I'm just lagging behind.

My dream build.

Exterior:
1. Repaint entire car Magnum Grey Pearl
2. Buddyclub P1 Racing QF wheels 17/18 size
3. Flat underbody and rear diffusor
4. Speed glass
5. Lexan hatch
6. CF trunk (surprising how heavy the trunk is compared to the front hood)
Depending if I get bored with the exterior
1. MargaHill Widebody kit with Margahill lights + covers

Interior:
1. Type-S seats and redo the color of the seats to Black/(silver/grey) color combo.
2. Remove interior leather material and replace with black alacantara. Door inserts replaced with (silver/grey) colored alacantara.
3. Short shifter with Type R mesh.
4. Remove carpet and sound insulation from interior of cabin and lightly coat exposed metal with black bed liner.
5. Paint all trim Flat Black
6. Sporty looking pedals

Performance:
1. 3.8L N/A setup
2. ITB's
3. Headers and exhaust with highflow cats
4. 6 speed transmission
5. Fully adjustible suspension
6. Big brake kit

having a 6 spd is a waste IMO..... who ever uses 6th gear? I never use 5th gear (rarely) and I have short gears and the type R final drive. I think its a waste :)

That actually sounds like fun in a painful expensive time-consuming sort of way.

Realistic dream build for my NSX is to have the oem 2002 wheels re-barrelled to 17x8 front and 18x10.5 rear. F1 sounding exhaust. Engine refresh.

Don't want anymore trouble with the authority with my car mods.
