Gents,
NSXVURGEN and I were originally planning to meet in Brentwood and hook up with the rest of the group in Dublin.
There is a brand new hospital/clinic down the street from where I'm at where we were going to meet that has a huge parking lot. It's a couple of miles from Hiway 4 at the corner of Balfour and the Hiway 4 bypass.
As an option, if it's not a logistical nightmare to get there, it might make a good staging point for the final leg into Stockton along a nice levee road on the 4. As DinanM3 mentioned earlier, Hiway 12 may not be a good option. There will be lots of RV's, trailered boats (you WILL get stuck behind one) and drawbridges which will be opened for busy river traffic. I've already lost three windshields from rocks through there also.
Bottom line: if the meeting point is in Walnut Creek, the 680/4/160/12 route is the most uncomplicated route until you reach I-5. The Hiway 4 route from Walnut Creek calls for a little bit of in town driving, but is a nice drive and easier to get to the dealership once you reach I-5.
My thoughts would be to stay with Nalesh's original plan to meet in Dublin. It would be easier to keep us together for the trip over. Hopefully the traffic won't be bad. Afterwards, it's open season as far as drives and other activities.
