driver

i heard the driver fell asleep. it was enclosed transport. i think there were 2 other cars on board also probably totalled. it was a shipping company out of texas. evrytime i look at the pic i get depressed this suks.

You are just as likely to have an accident yourself as a transporter is - probably more so. At least if it's destroyed on a transporter, their insurance pays for it (I assume).
 
Indeed. I'd argue that driving it home probably presents more risk but to each his own.

I hope someone resurrects this car and restores it back to it's proper glory.

Agree, sans the motor. Okay, I've kept this little bit of info a secret before, but now the cat is outta the bag. #8 has more oomph than any stock NA2 NSX that I've ever had the opportunity to drive. That C32B in that Z could be one of the rare production variations that turned out better than the rest of the batch, just like that unusaully fast silver 98 NA2 coupe C&D tested with a while back that produced 4.5 sec from 0-60. I wouldn't be surprised if #8 can produce the same results, if not better, than the C&D 98 coupe, simply because the Z is lighter, albeit not that much. If only the price is right, like somewhere south of $35k, I'd jump on the opportunity and pay cash for it.

Well, #49 is definitely NOT healthy; just look up vin # 176 on Carfax and you'll know what I mean. About 2 years ago I used to have a carfax file of all Zanardi's just by knowing the vin (and check digit) #'s, but my PC crashed many times since (due to internet viruse(s)) and carfax compilations were all but erased. That's how I found out #49 was almost a bucket of bolt but was restored to its "proper glory". But I didn't recall #8 was a total loss. However, I wouldn't be surprised if #8 is NOW on the sh*t list as well.

Yeah, all in all, I'd have to say driving mine home to Seattle through the passes in Nevada and Northern California right after a big snowstorm last Christmas was probably not the best idea. ;)

Mind you, if I had totaled it, at least I'd have driven it. :)

If a reputable transport company was chosen, which I would assume for a vehicle like this, the transporter's insurance will cover everything, not the buyer or seller's insurance. However, given that this vehilce was an NSX and a rare NSX at that, I would be worried that insurance wouldn't make the appropriate adjustments and would just pay book value for an NSX of that year which is usually way too low anyway. Book value and market value are two different things. When I bought my car, the banks said it was worth at least 5k less than what I bought it for which was not at a premium. I actually bought it low knowing that I needed to put some money into it to make it exactly as I wanted. I would be more worried about insurance giving me 20% less for a car I never had a chance to even drive instead of just losing the car. :rolleyes:
 
DOWNLOAD--Thank you for kind words despite your devastating loss. Looking back I feel a little silly for getting all worked up over your car. By all accounts that car was probably the most pristine of all Z's available for sale, and I'm sorry it never made it to the buyer. Best of luck to you in finding another car like #20.

Now you and the buyer will see just how sincere the car carrier is to make amends. Sorry for the disaster.
